1st post, Cloudy headlights Pics Help

Hi everybody, new member here. Just picked up my Black on Black sedan on the 31st of May. Unbelievalbe car just love it. I do have a few door rattles but my biggest concern are my headlights. The following pictures show the "foggyness" inside the housing. It's really only visible when the headlights are on, but outside during the day if you look closely you can see it. Very strange because it looks like its on the outside, but when i try to clean it it's still there. Anyone else have this issue?

Thanks in advance for your help....Richard

Welcome aboard bro.......Fogginess on the inside usually says one thing: moisture from a crack or leaking around the bulb's holders. Change any bulbs lately? If not check closely for cracks. G/L

Thanks GSedanman, Actually haven't changed the bulbs, but what is weird, is that the is no mositure in them, and when it rained like it did here in so cal (ok drizzled) they are bone dry inside. To me it actually looks like they were left outside or got wet before they were assymble on my car from the factory. Funky, but either way I told the dealer I wanted them changed and the seemed to be ok with it...we'll see

have you tried running a polisher on them?

sometimes a haze will look like it is on the inside but it is really on the surface.

if a polish doesnt cure it then I'd bring it to your dealer and complain.

In some of the earlier posts other members had a similar issue and the dealer replaced them under warranty. Keep us posted.

There is a TSB at the dealerships for this, but it does not pertain to just the G35, it is for all infinitis made with plastic headlight housings. The call for a 3M Cleaner called Plastic Polish (#39010). Call your dealership and tell them its under Classification: EL02-006 and Reference: ITB02-031. Good Luck!

Mine look the same as yours. I bought mine used in March, 2003.
Thought I would just ignore it. If Infiniti will replace them, then I am
going to the dealership and raise the issue with them. Keep us
informed as to what happens with yours!

I have used the 3M clear plastic cleaner and polish or years on the back window of my nieghbors convert. and on helmet visors.I tend to do the headlights every 2-3 weeks. They will squeak after you're done-squeaky clean- towels make weird noises when run over the surface but nothings wrong. They're just happy to be cleaned

What about your headlamps? Do you do the inside of those?

Wow, thanks everyone for the help. Looks like it's going to be fun visiting this board. I'm going to take it to the dealer today to show them the headlights, and to have them order a new rear qtr glass...believe it or not, the glass has a 3 inch straight edge scratch. I noticed it when i took the car to have the windows tinted and the tint guy pointed it out before they started...other than the door rattles nothing to major

Mine had the same appearance. It looks like the fogginess is inside, but its actually outside! It's some wax residue or something. Go to your local auto parts shop and pick up some clear plastic polish. I put some on a soft terry towel and buffed the lights as if I was taking wax off. The lights are crystal clear now.

Glad you posted this thread, I have the same problem. This site is terrific. I visit it everyday and learn something new. These guys are awesome. I guess I'll try the clear plastic polish, then if that doesn't work, off to the dealer.

Have fun with your car!
