Just curious, I usually go around 5000 miles between mobil 1 changes, but a lot of my driving is in Dallas stop and go, and when I am not in Dallas traffic, I usually drive pretty hard.

How many miles were on your Maxima?

The $600 dollar service can be cheaper, I do the air filter, in cabin filter and brakes myself. I will also do the plugs myself at 60000, I agree, I have not seen too many 60000 miles plugs that looked great. I want to say the dealer only charged $80 for the belts on the Maxima, which was more reasonable than some other cars....

 

I drive 10-12K a year with probably 70% of that being city type driving. I change the oil every 5-6K. I drive hard maybe 20% of the time.

My 96 Maxima had 117K on it when sold. 140+ 1/4 passes, original clutch, driven pretty hard, pushing 30% more whp that stock, and still was getting 20mpg in the city. I recently helped the current owner swap on new belts at 123K. Yes, the original stock belts went 123K and neither showed any signs of needing replacement. The accessory belt takes all of 10 minutes to replace. The powersteering belt on the Maxima takes a little longer (30 minutes). $80 for a dealer to do both is very reasonable. The G35's belts should be much easier due to the orientation of the motor.

The only things I replaced over 6 years of hard use were:

1) Knock sensor
2) Both axles (busted boots at 100K)
3) Spark plugs
4) One coil pack
5) Lots of fluids
6) Temp sensor
7) F/R Struts
8) Brake pads
9) Front rotors
10) Front swaybar bushings

 

BMW doesn't seem all that expensive when your maintenance costs are $0


I haven't dropped a dime on maintenance in a long time

Was talking about the Eagle F1 GSD3's, yeah. Fantastic tires. Expect about 15k miles of the best wet and dry traction you could imagine. Short life, expensive, but very very good tires. 235/50/17.
