In the Birmingham, AL area we are running between 2.79 and 2.99 depending on the station for 91/93. That's the highest I have seen. On of our trip to the beach a few weeks ago where it shot from 2.25 for 87 to 2.55 for 87 in ONE DAY. It is starting to get to most people around here.

I spent 3 years in the SW burbs(98-00), and at that time, gas was easily >$0.20 a more in the twin cities than down here in Birmingham, AL. Looks like that has changed; I paid 2.79 for 93 at my last stop on Sunday, and I've got to fill up again tomorrow.

That's a good one! Well, BOHICA, I just heard on the news there is another round of increases coming, and they are blaming it on Hurricane Katrina, give me a break, the last round of increases they used the excuse uneasiness (or some BS like that) about hurricanes disrupting the flow of oil, must be nice to be able to just make up any excuse to raise prices! It must be nice to run a business where you can pass along all of your losses to the consumer, how convenient! I hope all these "speculators" lose their a$$es!

Not to say that it is the effect the news people have stated but let's face it there is some serious production drops going on for a few days minimum. The most conservative number I heard yesterday was 500K barrels a day in lost production since they shut down the offshore rigs Saturday. There are also I believe 6 refinereries (sp?) in the path of this hurricane. Do you really think that they kept those babies going after Saturday? It may be a couple of days before they are up and going again - assuming they have no damage. I definately can see how the impact is real and expected!

$1.14 per liter = 4.32 per gallon (Cdn)... Approx: $3.70 per gallon (US conversion)
