My car sat for a few days this weekend while I was out of town. I got in this morning to go to work, wouldnt start. Tried everything, wouldnt jump either. Finally had to have it towed to the dealer.. still waiting to hear whats up with it.

That's odd you couldn't jump start it. I'd be interested in the diagnosis of that issue. G/L and let us know.

No fuel pump in stock?? That's disappointing. Doesn't like every Nissan have this engine? It seems to be mentioned a lot on this board that people have to wait for parts. Good thing they give loan cars!!
I have been driving BMW's for the last 13 years and never had to leave the car for more then one day and never encounted parts not in stock, ever!!.

Disappointing, yes. But could it be that the lack of parts is one of 2 things.
1- The "Gs" are still pretty new and popular, unknown is if these are totally new cars as far as parts are concerned and most of those are shared among the current models creating a shortage.

2- BMW have been around longer and share many common parts or they break down more and therefore need to have a ready supply of replacements.

Re: Wouldnt Start! - Towed to dealer

Well my coworker just got back from BMW dealer and was very pissed at their service. He called two weeks ago to setup an appt to fix 4 things, letting them know well in advance. They took his car (it's a 2 hour drive to the BMW dealer), they gave him a loaner for a day, then told him it was done and ready to be picked up later that day. He couldn't make it in before they closed, and they balked about him keeping the loaner for another day, so he left at 6AM to pick his car up. They didn't have ONE thing fixed and said they had to order parts. On top of that the main reason he brought it in for, looseness in the steering, they told him it was fine and refused to look into it further. He's had it for almost 2 years now, so I'd think he'd know if the steering was getting loose. Add to that the service manager he had been assigned was conveniently on vacation when he picked his car up. So BMW isn't always better, every dealer is different.

I really think it matters who your dealership is more than your brand marquee. In fact, which service advisor you go to can make a difference. I just switched over to a different service advisor, and he seems to be much more attentive, actually bothers to call me back when he says he will, and tries harder to help me out.

I was in 2 days ago for a couple of minor things, and they did the brake switch recall while I was there. So far (knock on wood) no problems in that respect.

F@CK!!!!!!!
I just got a call from the dealer. They said my gas is contaminated with mud, and debris! I only have 4500 miles on the car, and I usually go to the same shell station.. They said that they will only replace the fuel pump under warranty, but they have to do all this cleaning and replace some other parts.. I have to pay $650 out of pocket! They said they can give me a sample of the contaminated gas, and I will have to go after the gas station to pay me back.. DAMN! This SUCKS!

If you always charge it you can pretty easily defend agianst thier initial claim which will certainly be: how did that happen - we didn't do it!

It still may be a struggle - did someone say attorney??

Re: Wouldnt Start! - Towed to dealer

You said you "usually" go to the same station.. did you recently use a different one?

There's also the possibility that some individual may have stuck dirt in your tank. Cruel and mean, but those types of people do exist.

Check your local BBB (Better Business Bureau) and see if other people have had the same problem with that gas station, that way if there are others you can sue them with PROOF.
