Questions about this front bumper on the G...

Please use above image to answer questions below! I "took" the pics from the gallery. Whosever car this is - simply freakin gorgeous, man! You have my respect.

Onto business:

1) Is this the aero package bumper or a nismo front bumper? I have been confused about this from day 1.

So, if I ordered the aero package from somewhere online:

1a) Will I get this bumper, 2 side skirts and a rear skirt

OR

1b) Wil I get a front lip, 2 side skirts and a rear skirt

2) What is the valance piece that is covering the front license plate area? Can we get this for a regular G bumper? I don't want to put a front plate on and the cutout makes the car look ugly IMHO if left empty. So, I have no choice but to put the plate on.

3) Is there a full nismo kit available?

Thanks a lot!

KC

Technically it's the "aero" pkg. Nismo is really a misnomer.
This kit from EverythingG35 is what you're looking for.

I have the bumper on my car with painted valances.

So there are no differences between the NISMO front bumper and going to a dealer and getting one there?

Correct, except you'll pay a lot more at a dealer than one of the online sources.
& remember these only fit '03 & '04 sedans.

Here are a couple more pics, aero (aka. Nismo) bumper & OEM painted lower valances.

Yes, as the others have already stated, that is the factory aero *kit*/nismo kit. Our 04 came with it, dealer installed.

And let me tell you what: it's nice looking in the driveway, but it's aboslutely gorgeous in the rear-view.

To clarify, 03-04 G35's had two aero options. The cheapest (like $500) was just a rear wing and underbody diffusers. The more expensive one (like $2500) was the Nismo ground kit which was the front bumper, side skirts, and rear bottom piece. You could this this kit with or without the factory spoiler.

The Nismo bumper is a must have if you own a 03-04 IMO. Those pics of the Nismo bumper and painted stock side skirts look awesome. That's the way to go.

To clarify even further, the Aero Package that was available on the '03-'04 cars is still available on the '05 cars. The Aero Package is comprised of two underbody diffusers (flat, plastic panels placed ahead of the rear suspension that help channel airflow around the suspension arms) and the trunk-mounted spoiler. You can buy the underbody diffusers for $66 and the spoiler (pre-painted) for $473 at Everything G35 (the package is $550 from Infiniti provided you get it with the car).

According to Infiniti, the Aero Package lowers the coefficient of drag from 0.27 to 0.26 and reduces rear-end lift to zero.

The Aero Kit is simply a bolt-on body kit that is more cosmetic than functional. It is not advertised to do anything for the car other than make it look really nice. However, logic would dictate that the rear spoiler would do something since it's the same spoiler used in the Aero Package.

Does the spoiler add downforce, and increase drag, thus reducing rear-end lift? Does it reduce drag, and do nothing for downforce, by smoothing the airflow off of the trunk? Do the underbody diffusers reduce drag and decrease rear-end lift by creating a high-pressure zone? Or do the diffusers just reduce drag and do nothing for reducing lift? Is it a little of both? Is one effective without the other? Am I putting too much thought into this? Does anybody really care?

The front and sides are pretty easy to install, the rear peice is a little more involved....

It sounds like you are only going with the front, so all you have to do is replace the bumper. There is some trimming involved, and you will need a rivot gun, along with standard hand tools.
