Tip?
Tip?
Alright. I have a question about Tips for Valet Service. I go to BJ's usually 2-3 times a week, and other places that have valet. For all of you in socal, who knows of BJ's in burbank, you better get the valet cause there aint no way your car will go up to the regular parking lot without getting scratched. Anyways, on the Valet, how much and when am i supposed to give the guy the money? My dad told me stories about giving the guy a 20 when you get there and a 20 when you get out for him to get your car. i said thats too much but he said its the service you get, also they take care of your car. " money talks " he said. how much do you guys give to the valet guy? Also, do you give money twice? or just once?
Depends on the place. In a situation where there is no way that I'd park elswhere, $10 in and $5 out. If its a place that has just roped off a few spots in an uncrowded venue, maybe $5 in, $2 out. If it's my wife's minivan, $2 each way!
yea i know what ure talking about...that lot in bjs sucksssssssssssss....my friend has a dropped tl w a kit but somehow he made it up there...but yea i hate that structure...yea as the prev guy said, depends on the situation but 20 in and 20 out seems way too much...id go for maybe 10 and 5 for that place...gl michael

A $40 tip for parking your car? Those valets must make more than hookers!
I am not cheap, but I can't justify tipping someone more than $3. I only tip when I get my car back, and it depends on how quick they were to get my car, and how they drove my car up to me.

I worked valet for a little bit at a catering hall. Very rarely did i recieve a tip when the cars came in. and when i did get tips on the exit they ranged from 1-5 dollars. and this is a fancy part of long island.
no 20 dollar tips needed at bjs.

Thus far I have been able to avoid valet... I will always park farther and walk! Not because I don’t want to pay - because I don’t want a stranger driving my car! There aren’t many people I have trusted to drive my car (very few) and a valet attendant will probably never be one of them.
On the other hand, if I ever did (which isn’t likely) - $5 is plenty.

That lot up on top is a bitch. But I made it up there crooked with my dropped celica once. It was a bitch crawling up there cuz my car is manual. But since then I usually park on the right side of where you go into the parking lot and they dont say anything about it.
There is valet at The House of Prime Rib in SF. I gave the guy $5 when he took my car then tried to give him $5 when he brought it back. Turns out the valet service costs $7. Doh!
