Mineral vs. Synthetic Oil

Hi All,

Just got my new '05 G35 sedan and going through user's manual I noticed that they recommended using a mineral oil. Until I read it I was planning on using Mobil1 synthetic. Anyone currently using it? Any reasons I shouldn't do it?

greetings,
-skielon

I changed to synthetic at 3750 miles. No problems. I called the dealer beforehand and asked about their oil change services. Even they offered Mobil1 oil changes. If they offer it, it must be ok. They charged an arm and a leg for the syn oil, though. I bring in my own 5 qt jug of Mobil1 bought from Wal-Mart.

dino oil is better. why? chances are u wont wait more than 3750 miles to do oil change. Another reason. COST! They all provide lubrication which is what its for incase many have forgotten.

For those who like to change their oil every 3K miles, I thought i would mention that Kmart also sells a house brand oil filter for $2.07. They have the shorty one (6607) and the longer one too.

Don't switch to Mobil1 till the third oil change... Thats the route I've taken, and was recommended by my dealer.
