2006/2007 G35 Sedan may be in trouble...
All of you, think about this.
The Lexus may have more power, but C&D are the only magazine to get under 5.8 seconds with the IS. Truly, I dont believe it could accelerate to 60 in 5.1 seconds.
Which in my opinion means, the IS may have the same accelleration as the G35.
Also, it has this Electronic management system, some magazines reported it on the GS, and they said it literally stopped the car on hard turns.
I think the main reason people will buy the GS, is to have a nice comfortable ride, with an extremely detailed interior, which is what a lot of people prefer over sport.
Although, it is almost as much as the infiniti M, and barely has a backseat with enough headroom for adults.

After seeing both the GS and the M almost side by side at the auto show here in April, I would have to say I prefer the M, inside and out, if Infiniti pushed the M as much as Lexus pushes the GS, I bet it would sell more, I see commercials etc for Lexus all the time, but Infiniti spots seem few and far between!

Keep in mind $42k is a fully loaded IS350. A fully loaded G35 costs $34k..
So G35 still has the edge when it comes to price.
Also I know a few magazines like C&D show 0-60 times for the IS350 around 5.1 seconds, but Road and Track shows it at 6.0 seconds, which in my opinon is a more realistic time. Car & Driver Magazine has always been on the low side when it comes to 0-60 times for cars...
So I dont think will see the IS350 being that much faster then the G35 at the track. So performance wise I would say its a wash... Personaly I wouldnt pay $8k extra just to have a nicer interior, but thats me.

I've read a few reports saying that the new IS, since it's new, will be sold at at least MSRP when it first comes out--likely higher than MSRP for initial cars with nav at some dealerships.
Definitely Lexus is making a large step with the new IS model. Should be interesting to see what happens with the next G35. Im new to this board, but found lots of useful info and have ordered/purchased my 1st Infiniti ( 2006 G35 Sedan, Garnet Red/Graphite w/ Premium & Aero)..pretty excited about this vehicle as its many many steps up from my current '96 Pontiac Grand Am.

Still thats a $4k difference between cars and the G35 based on several magazine reviews has similar performance as the IS350, you just get more luxury for the extra $4k on the IS350. I sitll think the G35 has the edge as an overall sports sedan. Here's a quote out of Road and Track Magazine "We wish Lexus had emphasized the sporting quotient over the luxury accouterments."
the key thing to remember, for me anyways, is the word content........i kinda had this weird feeling when i had my 2000 5sp manual maxima when the new and improved 2002 model came out with more power etc.......now, i remain content and happy w/my 04 6sp manual g35 sedan w/enough mods good for 245hp & 244tq........remember, there's always gonna be a better and faster car, for a price......peace.
