this is exactly why i bring it to the dealers body shop to get it fixed, they work closely with infiniti parts and they tend to not let your car just sit in the back of the lot collecting dust while you take public transportation to work, i assume you insurance only covers 1 month of rental, so i guess you have been with out a car for 2 months,p DAM! all summer no car,

Actually this is the Infiniti body shop. In Tucson, Watson Chevy owns the Infiniti dealership and Watson's body shop does all of their work. In this case the body shop is a little guilty in poor follow-up and it has sat in the lot more than you would want for these repairs. Luckily, All State is covering me with a rental after some negotiation.

The letter to Infiniti got some attention and I am negotiated some kind of compensation from either them or the dealer. Has anyone ever gotten money out of Infiniti for a screw-up? We are in the early stages of negotiating and they have only offered a $500 rebate towards a trade in on a new G35 (I asked for $2K). At this point I would just like a check from them.

Insurance settlement

16 months ago I was t-boned & $15,000 damage. I am currently using a lawyer for pain & suffering & have not settled but it will be soon. She never mentioned the value loss compensation? Based on what is being noted here is that I should have an estimate done as my car was repaired 14 months ago & I know the value will be less because of the accident!

I guess I should contact her to look into this? I guess she will still take her 30% off this as well but I still get the other 70% of the value loss?? I am in Alberta, Canada. Thanks for advice

From what I understand, some states have different rules on diminished value as well as some insurance companies (some allow it and some don't - not sure about Canada).

I was hit by someone with All State insurance in the state of Arizona so they said I could file a claim. As for using a lawyer - I had some pain in my lower back and hamstring after the accident but when I emailed a few lawyers nobody seemed interested in getting back with me. Now after still having pain for nearly 4 months my primary doctor ordered an MRI and it turns out I have a hamstring tendon pulled off the bone. My medical bills are over $5K now so the pain and suffering payout should be significant. If you look on the web you can find a formula that calculates pain and suffering and it uses lost time from work and medical bills to calculate a range for payouts.

Hope this helps.

Thank you Azlane, mine happened while driving for work so WCB (Worker's Compensation Board) is involved & I am using (paying) their lawyer to file a claim. They are filing a claim for themselves because down the road if I am not able to work they will have to pay me compensation to cover my lost salary, so they are filing a claim at the same time for me. I left the lawyer a message today about wanting to use an appraiser and see what their oppinion is on lost value, so she should phone me back & let me know her opinion on my request.

very sorry to hear about your pain & suffering & hope things work out for you on that! Sheldon

Angry

WOW! The above story is very similar any many ways to what I have just experienced. I pulled out in front of someone by accident and was Tboned in my 05 6mt sedan (2k miles). The seat airbag and curtain airbags deployed and most of the impact was absorbed in the A pillar and driver door. I am at over 60 days now due to parts issues (Infinit doesn't keep airbags in stock) and we had to get to headliner # 3 before we found one undamaged. Infiniti has treated me like crap throughout the ordeal and will not provide a loaner even though it's strictly a parts availability issue at this point. Customer Relations could care less and after exhaustig that avenue I just sent an email to Infiniti, and am going to try the above mentioned method of going straight to the top. Because I was at fault for the accident I can't go after other party's insurance, but I am now going to try to get money for loss of value from my own company. The damage visably looked fairly insignificant but with the seat and 'bags destroyed repairs are close to $9k. We will see if Infiniti makes the situation right, but I am almost completely sure they will do nothing. I will NEVER buy another Nissan product, not that they will have a problem selling the new GTR's anyways, but : ) As an enthusiast and formerly proud nissan-running guy, this situation is astonishing and angering! 100 days of ownership, 65 out of service! I, too, had an initial response from Infiniti Parts for a 6 month lead time for the needed parts, so they tell me I should feel lucky all the parts are arriving sooner now that I complained! This is my True Ownership Experience. I already have 100 Tshirts printed "Infinti ... describes the length of time it takes to get parts for your new car." "Infiniti ... describes the number of times you'll regret your purchase." (Large logo front and back, looks nice too!) Myself and some friends will be visiting dealerships on Friday/Saturday afternoons wearing these and being vocal during peak sales hours. Let them call the police.. then I'll get my story in the paper! Buckle up, or step up to the plate Infiniti! -San Antonio and Austin, TX
