G35, 540, Mustang, 911, Miata, RSX...
IS300, 325, A4, G35, 540, Mustang, 911, Miata, RSX, 944, 914, Focus, NSX, RX-7......
WHY, OH WHY is our G35 the only car in the list (small list of cars I drove with at the track today) that can take the abuse of a road course????? After a 30 min hard session on a real road course my brand new pads are metal on metal and the auto stike stops working!! I have tried metal metrix pads. stoptech SS brake lines, I have added brake ducts (see pic), I have used and cracked stillen cross drilled and slotted rotors, I added a tranny cooler, and still the same problems continue.
I get compliments on how fast the G35 is going. Everything is good with the JIC-FLTA2's and the wide SO3. This car can carve. THE BRAKES BLOW.....they cannot even come close to every other street car I have seen at the track (G34 because of our brakes).
Is my car f**ked up or are all G35 sedans this way?
Damn I had to vent....I am pissed. I have to get a big brake kit or quit messing around and buy this 911 RS38 race preped car I have been eying. Oh well looks like I am sharing my brothers M3. I have changed 10 sets of rear pads and I am done with the G on the track.......sad day for the G sedan if you ask me.

Re: G35, 540, Mustang, 911, Miata, RSX...
Mountain,
Sounds like you need that aftermarekt big brake kit. "Wildwood" is one option. But what are those other guys running? Sounds like they are stock.
Once you hit 170F in the tranny it is programmed to start shutting down. You could run the lines through a cooler with dry ice, but that is a lot of trouble.

The G35 is a "sports sedan", not a true race car in stock/near stock form. It is made to outrun your average mom and pop grocery getter. I would also recomment a big brake kit. If you're going to abuse your car, might as well add all the aftermarket parts and do it right. Me, I just cruise .... low-ride-er. (I totally baby my g)
Re: G35, 540, Mustang, 911, Miata, RSX...
I dont know how u feel about stillen but they offer a relatively good priced big brake kit on their web page, but personally i feel that brembo is the only way to go. To answer your question yes the brakes on this car suck. Remember how this car is best priced out of anything in its class. The brakes are one of the reasons why. The brakes are made to stop in long strides, such as if one were to go sixty miles an hour then try to stop to 5mph. They are not ment at all for track situations, one reason being they overheat to a great degree. I mean you can tell they are not meant to hold up by the enourmous amount of break dust that they shead.
Re: G35, 540, Mustang, 911, Miata, RSX...
AMEN....They really cheaped us out on the brakes. I dont know why an IS300 (priced very similiarly) has brakes that can deal with the track and we dont. IMO nissan screwed us for no real reason. Adding a little better rear brake would not cost them that much more.
Oh well. I am taking all the mods off the car and going stock except for a set of lowering springs. I bought a porsche race car (not street legal). I have a set of JIC-FLTA2 for sale. I will take the best offer. I also have a racing lap harness if someone wants it.
