Fuel door won't open!
Tonight I was at a gas station and tried to add fuel, but couldn't because the fuel door got stuck and wouldn't open. I unlocked all the doors, tried everything I could, but it didn't open. Thankfully I saw a tow truck and the guy was so friendly and took a look at it. At first he didn't know what happen also, but figure out to manually open the lid. Here is what he did, in case this thing happen to your G and you gotta add fuel:
Open the trunk, on the right hand side use a flat head screwdriver to pop out a black circular clip, pull the gray cover backward a little bit and you will see a white rectangular puller(about an inch long and thin), and you just pull it backward(towards the rear of the car) and push the lid it will open.
I need to make appointment with Infiniti to have it fixed. I hate the new machine, everything automatic and electronic, I want it the simplest way, just purely mechanical.

Yup I've only had my 04 sedan for 7 months and one month after ownership, same thing happened to me. Took it to dealership of course and the replaced the actuator. There a write-up somewhere on here about the culprit that goes bad causing your door to be stuck. It's just a little white actuator, no big deal unless you're out of fuel the run into this problem.
Infiniti's way of helping conserve gasoline, HaHa! That happened with my '04 once or twice, but fortunately it happened when I was washing the car, I took it in, but it worked fine, of course, both times!

Nissan missed the boat on this.....many rides have this back up tether hanging in the trunk just in case......
C.
an oldie but goodie.
I just had the same problem with my G and just wanted to say thanks for the help. I would've never figured it out by myself.
I'm guessing this is somewhat an occurence with these cars.
Just something else to complain about.

+1 on ^ i have about 1/8th a tank of fuel left when i pulled into the gas station on the way home from the gym and noticed my actuator went out. What a bad time to find out the thing went out. Anyways, I love the search feature :-p
thanks
thanks
My actuator went out about 6 months ago and was covered by warranty. Has anyone actually installed one of these? Is it difficult? I'm sure my actuator will go out again. Remember the actuator will engage/disengage everytime you lock and unlock your doors....
Anyone installed an actuator?? Thanks!
