Drove an 05 Coupe Auto Today-Impressions

Took my sedan 05 6mt to the dealer today to check out some brake problems and I drove one of the salemans 05 Auto Coupes, heres what I thought.

Cons
Rode like ****. This thing was rough, reminded me of my 89 Mustang GT
I like the shape of the mirrors on the sedan better
The auto trany was not to my liking. Felt real soft shifting.
Manumatic took too long (2-3 seconds) from the time I hit upshift, to when it did.
I thought the wood trim looked cheapish, and it clashed with the sparce aluminum trim.
Rattles, rattles rattles
Bigger blind spot

Pros
I like the extra cup holders in the doors
I like the speaker trim, looks classer than our sheet of platic
The auto seams to have good HP/Torque in the lower rpms as compared to the manuals

Just my thougts, I dont think I will every have "coupe envy". Glad I bought the 6mt sedan. Just felt funner than the coupe.

Actually you mean more fun...sorry my wife is an English major and always stops me when I drop the word "funner". I like the looks of my sedan, but damn if the coupe doesn't look even better. That said, 90% of the time I'm happy I bought the sedan. I still want to drive the coupe someday just to compare the two.

me too

The coupe just has such a nice shape to it. I keep telling myself, "You know, just because it looks cool doesn't mean it's a better car!"

That shift response on the AT can be greatly improved with GG's grounding gear.

Does Grounding Gear void warranty and how hard is it to get it install?

If I'd bought the coupe my back would be saying "what the hell were you thinking" every time I needed to squeeze my 5 month old son in the car seat on a daily basis.

Gord's GroundingGear does not void the waranty. If you can use a ratchet and are fairly mechanical, you can install the GroundingGear yourself. Hint: buy a magnetic pick-up tool for the dropped nuts in the engine!
The shift response is greatly improved with the basic 7-8 wire set. It is way improved with the 10 wire set...

I am not sure if I fall into "fairly mechanical" term and I tend to screw little things up when I tried fixing things.

I was surprised I managed the z-tube and k&n in a little over an hour. So you think I can handle the GG's? Any risk of breaking things and how long would it take?

well I drive a coupe and am driving a G35X as a loaner right now. I will say that the sedan is very fun to drive but not as quick as my coupe. The sedan handles much better than I thought it would and the soft ride feels nice for a change. But the coupe turns many more heads and if more fun to drive. Just my .02

What pkg did the coupe have? Did it have the forged 19" rims on it? If so...it has the sport tuned suspension and that's the whole point to it. Compared to the stock suspension, sports is suppose to ryde stiff. Just compare it to the BMW 3 series. I'd driven my buddy's 03' sedan and it's comfy, but I'm in the market for the stiff ryde.

If you handled the Z tube and Filter install without any mishaps, you should have no problems with the GroundingGear wires. Gord's instruction are written quite well.

I drove the 05 coupe with the new sport suspension when they first came out. Night and day better in living up the the car's sporting intention's. But, I wasn't lost on the idea that maybe, just maybe some people might think it's too stiff. I felt that the car was totally turned around as far as driving enjoyment compaired to the 03 coupe I almost bought (though in the end not enough head room is what killed the sale).

From Gordgee's post, seems like I should be able to handle the first 8 wires (under hood) but the last two you'll need to jack up the car right? I am not sure if I can handle those. Will the 8 wires improve the MM mode? Or only the last two (tcu ? ecu?).
