Considering the swap.. Coupe --> Sedan HELP!
i'm running up on my warranty for my coupe, so i was thinking about getting rid of it for another car.. i was thinking maybe a hybrid, but i don't really like any of the styling out there.. so i'm seriously considering the swap for the sedan..
anyhow, here's where i need your help.. i have a few concerns and they are as follows:
1) the gas mileage in my coupe was never great.. 16-18, highest was about 22-24, but that is only on my weekly trips to see my girl.. how is the mileage for the sedan?
2) if you can take a quick glance at my sig, which parts can i swap out from my coupe to the sedan?
3) i have a 5AT for the coupe, but am leaning towards a 6MT for the sedan.. what are the impressions of the 5AT and 6MT sedan..
4) i love the handling in the coupe.. does the sedan have as tight a suspension or does it sway much more than a coupe?
5) what FI applications are available for the sedan? i've been putting off having a vortech installed on my coupe for a year now, and just as i'm about ready, i'm thinking about swapping cars hehe
6) no offense to the members with more years on them and this is a more subjective question, but do you feel like this car fits someone who is 24? (and before i get flamed, my dad did help me pay for my coupe, but i paid for my most recent car purchase in full and will be paying for the sedan or whatever car i decide on)
i will definitely go through some previous posts in this sedan forum, but i wanted to get some straight answers from people who are willing to respond..
thanks for your time guys/girls..

im not sure how it differs from the coupe but im 19 and have a sedan and love it. when you drive it you totally forget about the 2 extra doors in back because your so caught up in the nice powerfull, sporty feeling you get driving the sedan. i love my sedan and i dont think i could sacrifice space to get the coupe when they are so much alike. just my oppinion.
there is no way the g35 sedan is an old mans car. i get so many complements at the track from guys who are racing old muscle cars and newer corvettes and even an 05 viper.

1) the sedan and coupe get the same mileage
2) Most likely everything but the cosmetic mods
3) The difference between the 6mt sedan and 5at sedan is the same as the diff between the 6mt coupe and 5at coupe
4) the coupe has a tighter suspension and rougher ride. The coupe is also lower and comes with better tires which equates to better handling stock
5) The same things for the coupe will work for the sedan in FI applications
6) Sedan is more useful but not as sporty as the coupe
I say its a bad decision just because you are out of warranty. Keep the car longer and save the money for future investments.

1,2,3...6???
What is the point of purchasing a G35 sedan and throwing a blower on it, when your other car is already safely supercharged from the factory?
As much as I love my G35, I can't understand why you would get a slow and boring sedan (relatively speaking). Get an STi, or an Evo 9 MR- those would be fun cars you could have to get you around town, while the E55 will be the "mature" car you have.

Per the specs, the Sedan is lower. From the ground to the frame.

I don't see how you guys can keep any money in your pocket getting a new car every year or two. Unless you put a ton of miles on the coupe in a short amount of time, I don't see how you will be close to the end of the warranty on a 04. Save your money and keep the coupe. The sedan is basically the same thing with two extra doors.

i'm closing up on two years (3 months left) and i have 50K+.. the rate i drive, i'll easily beat the warrranty mileage of 60K in the next two months.. i need to drive for my work and driving 300 miles every weekend will do that..
and i don't see the sedan as the same thing as the coupe.. if it were, i wouldn't have so many problems when i need to haul stuff..

but yeah, FI sure sucks the hell out of your gas mileage.. so yeah, most likely, the sedan will remain N/A and most likely bone stock..
First of all +1 on the Sedan and Coupe not being that much different. They are essentially the same car..give or take 2 doors...exhaust...seats...and a lower center of gravity. Whatever the coupe has on handling over the sedan, can quickly be remedied on the sedan with a drop/swaybars/rims.
Secondly, I was 19 when I got my G...I went with the Sedan just because it was more practical for me. I'm a little bit bigger, liked the extra room, and sometimes I haul around boxes so the sedan was more practical. So the Sedan is definitely not for oldies, it's not like it's a friggin cadillac.
On the warranty side of things, I don't think the G is that big of a deal without warranty. It's not a perfect car...but it's not German which requires a lot of maintenance. Also, it's not like you have to take the car to a european specialist.
Have you thought about getting a 3rd party maintenance program? Or extending the warranty to a 100k through infiniti?

I've had both sedan and now coupe. For toting people around, the sedan is by far the better choice...as far as space is concerned for hauling things, strangely enough the coupe is more effective at hauling what I need to haul (skiis, snowboard and other irregular things). The passthru on the sedan just doesn't allow for much more than a pair of skiis. I'm planning on taking the coupe to the track...sedan just a little worse in the handling department (both 6MT's). I know what you're thinking...coupe isn't a winter car. You'd be surprised what a set of winter tires will do...rear wheel drive adds a fun little element as well.
