Unhappy Do I have a lemon or what!

I'm really depressed with my car. I bought a 2005 G35 Sedan 6MT. When operational, it's a really fun car to drive. However, ever since I drove it off the lot I've had too many damn problems. Here is my log:

- Wheels way out of balance: Two trips and 4 new tires and rims

- Can't put gas in my tank: Two trips and a new gas tank and realted assembly

- Windows rattle like a SOB: Two trips and lots of lube and wire foam

- Trunk won't periodically open: One trip and no solution

- CD Player gets error messages: One trip and no solution

- Car is stuck in 3rd gear: One trip and looks like a new transmission

So in the end my 8 month old car has new rims, new tires, new gas tank, and a new transmission. The dealership is very helpful and gives me a loaner each time, but my car has been in the shop for over a month in total.

What ticks me off is the fact I love the car....and sold my BMW to escape all of the dealer visits.

Anyway, just a rant. I feel better now.

EDIT: Forgot to mention my car was broken into as well last month. Broke the drivers window.

Man, that is too many trips to the dealer for such a new car.

For the trunk problem, you need to go stick the key in the ignition, turn it to the on position, then take it out and the trunk should pop open with the fob, switch or keyless bumper button.

Sorry about your bad luck. Most lemon laws require that you bring the car back for service three times with the same issue for it to be declared a lemon. I'd look into it anyway.

Shame - Infiniti has really good reliability, always sad to see one go awry.

Agreed, I'd have steam coming out of the ears if that was my car...

KNOW YOUR RIGHTS. KNOW THE LAW, RESEARCH IS THE KEY.

google: LEMON LAW

if i was in your situation i would get a full refund and buy a lexus is250
or get a brand new 2006 gs sedan mt6 with FULL options and EXTRA accessories.

use the free stuff (that works the best) first. Lawyers will help get things moving quicker... and by "get things" I mean "steal your" and by "moving quicker" I mean "money".

Ya, nothing like going from 298hp and low 6's to 200 hp and 8s to 60.

Seriously though - look into lemon laws, get another G35 and enjoy it. Given the fact that Infiniti has the second lowest lemon rate in the industry odds are on your side that you will get a good one the second time around.

Have you approached your dealer with regards to getting a new vehicle?

I have not because the lemon law deals with reoccuring problems or an unwillingness to complete repair. In my case the dealer has fixed everything and every problem has been unique. I have not seen anything about 30 days.

I just got a call from my dealer who said Infiniti has not determined what to do with my transmission problem. The car is still stuck in 3rd gear and the shop has no idea why. Infiniti is making the dealer go through a checklist before they approve a new transmission. So basically, my car has had no work performed in the last three days. The dealer said they will know on Friday how much longer it will take. My guess is I will see my car late next week.

The ironic part of this story is this is exactly what happened to my BMW. Brand new with tons of problems.

Next time you talk to the dealer I would mention, politely, that you are going to talk to an attorney about the lemon law in your state. If that doesn't speed up the "checklist" Infiniti is having them go through, then nothing will.
