Snow Tires

I have a 2003 g35 6MT. Rear wheel drive of course.
Was wondering what the consensus is on what the best snow
or all weather tire is for this car.

In the past I have car pooled with my wife who has an FX35 when there
is snow on the ground or even a chance of snow. I have gotten stuck where I couldn't move at all several times in the past with the standard stock tire.

thanks.

blizzaks are great.. you can get a number of tire packages on tirerack.

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....e1=yes&place=0

If that link works those are V rated Dunlop SP Winter Sport M3 tires. They work very well. This time around I opted for the X model but if I was getting just RWD I would have invested in a set of snows. That way you can have summer only and winter only tires.

Word of caution though if you get snows that have a much lower speed rating, you will notice much different handling characteristics on dry pavement. Something I noticed when I took off the S03s I had on my car and put on the 110MPH rated snows.. The V rated tires mentioned above will not impact the handling nearly as much on those dry roads in winter...

That is pretty much the consensus-if you want pure snow traction and are willing to give up some handling on dry pavement, get Blizzaks, however if you live in an area where you get snow but most of the time there is dry pavement get Dunlop M3 snows as they work good in snow and you don't give up much in handling. I bought 17" Kazera KZT wheels and Dunlop M3 snows for this winter.

Pokey,

I was in your boat a year ago searching for the same....I opted for buying 16" steel rims & hubcaps and throwing on Michelin Pilot Alpin PA2 snow tires. Research on tirerack.com to compare them all...Blizzak's I too heard are the best, but don't last that long if you drive a lot (probably only 2 winter seasons). I went w/ the PA2's because they're a bit more durable (longer treadlife) but still had a pretty good traction rating.

Thanks to all for the information. Will research your suggestions and let
you know how I make out. BTW - I'm in NJ and we get some pretty bad snow storms up here.

Dunlop Wintersports M3

I know everyone talks of these tires. I am about to make a purchase for my sedan. The only 17" tire they have is H rated not V rated. Is this a big deal? Will I even notice the difference below 100mph?

Please advise

Winter tires will not handle like summer tires...That being said, you must drive accordingly. My guess is that you will feel a difference < 100, but you will also be able to drive in the snow, that's the trade off. I have this set and I will be putting them on in a few weeks.

I just purchased Dunlop M3's that are V-rated from Tire Rack 215/55/17. Last year I ran Blizzak WS-50's and felt they were unsuitable for the performance level of the G. Couldn't wait to get them off the car.
