Quick MPG check, and fuel

Most of you are probably "spirited drivers", or you'd all have camarys, prius, or accords. Still, I'm curious how you feel the MPG is in the 6MT? I'm guessing mileage is better in it.

So what's your average MPG in...

1. City
2. HW
3. Average
4. What octane of fuel?

Thanks!

I would say I am a kinda mild driver like shift under 4k. I red-line maybe a couple of time a month only. I only fuel her up with 91 octane. My avg is around 20-21 mpg.
I did get 25 mpg on the trip to Vegas tho.

City:
20 mPG shifts at 3000 RPM
22 MPG shift at 2500 RPM
FREEWAY: 30 MPG AT 70 MPH
USE 91 OCTANE
Average ~ 25 MPG, mostly freeway.
6 MT 2005. 4400 miles.
Plan to switch to synthetic next time,
I hope to improve MPG even more as breaking in continues.

Thanks you guys. I know if I want to do 30+ I should by a civic. I just though the G35 would average in the mid 20's. I'm only worried if I average below that.

Is MT significantly better than auto? Even if auto is left in "auto mode?"

In theory the 6MT should get better gas mileage but in the real world it's so much fun to drive that you tend to drive it more aggresively. I have seen 25.4 average and here is the proof

You have to drive really mellow to get this type of mileage. if your truly concerned about gas mileage then this is the wrong car to get.

Thanks for the snapshot. I tend to agree w/ your statement regarding "if you're worried about mpg, this isn't the car for you."

I'm simply confused why the competitors seem to do better here.

330, new IS, and TL all can do over 30 on HW. And a good 24 avg.

I still want the G35. I just don't want this to be a showstopper.

I actually did 464 miles on a tank of gas on a recent trip across state lines. Or just over 25mpg. 2004 5AT

I read on Automobile mag today that the most efficient way to drive is to step on the gas 3/4 down until you reach your cruising speed (60-70). The reason is that piston engines are most efficient at full throttle.

I've never gotten above 13.1.

All 93 octane, and pretty much all city driving as our freeways run about as fast as surface streets most of the time.
