Exhaust question from newbie...

I just got my sedan two weeks ago and I'm loving it! Since I started doing the research while looking for a car, I've realized how much fun cars can be! I'm new to all of this and I have no idea about technical/mechanical details (but I'm learning) so here's my question...What can I do or what can I get to make the exhaust sound on my sedan sound more like the coupe. I just want a stronger sound when I accelerate and I dont want to lose any horsepower. Thanks a lot!

Unfortunately, there's no way to determine what an aftermarket exhaust sounds like until you've actually put it on or unless you hear it on someone's car. If you want something similar, then I would suggest you go with Nismo's system.

If you are really looking for the coupe sound
dun go for GReddy because it maybe too loud for your taste
I am not saying GReddy is not good because I really like mine, the gain in power and the look is just perfect
Maybe you can also look into HKS because I downloaded the audio clip in the mod section and it sounds pretty low, deep but not too loud
Also, not sure about the sound, Stillen will have a new exhaust sys coming out

Re: Exhaust question from newbie...

Even picking a muffler based on how it sounds on another G35 is a bad idea. Other engine mods such as a high-flow cat can change the sound of the exhaust.

On my Acura Integra GS-R, the Carsound/Magnaflow high-flow cat converter I put on made the car louder than when I installed the new exhaust system.

Re: Exhaust question from newbie...

As far as exhaust note goes, the Magnaflow 14829 Muffler makes a great sound when used on the vq engine in altima trim. On a side note however, that is with a dual exhaust. I think the G will actually turn out better performance with a single exhaust, but the exhaust will be much louder and racier with a single exhaust.

Just an FYI to add to the confusion

Additional benefit of single versus dual is the weight. (you can lose about thirty lbs with a single exhaust if done right) However the stock components are pretty thick and a dual exhaust may actually be lighter than the stock exhaust.

All these argument are based on a "cat back" system not jsut muffler replacement
