Can car covers be used in snowy chicago weather?

Hi I never needed a car cover before...but now I do..since I have another car which takes precedence over this to sit in the garage..I was wondering if I do happen to park it outside , can I cover it up at night and then in the morning, just remove the cover and go? if so how much does a car cover cost and any particular ones that are recommended?

Thanks

thanks...but can the car be left outside with the cover on and all the snow mounting on top without damage? I am assuming since nothing could be worse than bare paint being dumped on by soo much snow..??

yeh, see i dont know if i would do that unless everytime snow falls you go and blow the snow off, because it would suck to get scratch marks from the cover itself on the roof

so you saying car cover with snow damages the car more than when the car is bare body covered in snow? I am not certain thats why I am asking these questions...

I used to do this is New England every time it looked like snow. I used a really thin cheap nylon thing with a drawstring. The snow used to slide off it easily, and it was smooth. It worked great. Big hunks of ice sliding down your fender can certainly scratch it.

if you cover the car when its wet or if there is a lil snow on it,, the car cover will freeze to the car because of the liquids. then you will never be able to get inside.

hmm i am still confused..Mr.G says he did it, but never complained about frozen cover to car and killerlexus is saying that it would be a problem? so what is it? Should i go ahead and buy it or I am better off bare bones car in snow?

if tow ppl pick the cover carefully up and throw the snow rather than slide the snow off, would that make a diff?

Thanks...

Yup, that's right, I had to abandon many cars because the cover was frozen on and I was never able to get inside again. There are probably still cars all over Boston that I had to leave behind.

I never put a cover on a really wet car but I used a cheap light cover for years in Boston and never had a problem and never had to scrape snow off my car. Just get a light polyester or nylon cover and try it.

I can only speak of the cover used the year I stored my mustang outside for the winter. It was an Evolution 4, made by Kimberly Clark. The cover is semi-custom made to fit your vehicle make and model, however, I’m sure it would fit other cars of equal length and width. It also has side mirror pockets and an elastic hem across the bottom so no need to tie it down. If you are concerned about cover theft, you can by a cable and lock for the cover. I think the cover cost me like $150.

The cover worked very well. It allowed the car to breathe while still remaining completely waterproof. The key to not scratching you paint is to only put a clean car cover on a clean car. If you put the cover on a car that’s even slightly dusty, the cover will mix with the dust and scratch the paint as you attempt to cover the car.

I live in Chicago and I will sell you my cover for $100. I’m pretty sure it will fit a G35 Sedan just based off the length and width. I don’t need it any more as I now have a multi-car garage. Let me know. Here is a link about the cover:
