Service Help

I brought my car in for an oil change on Friday and the technician told me without taking the tire off and "showing" me that my front breaks have 1 and 2 mm left on them. I had rotated my tires a couple of months back and noticed the warning sensors (those metal prongs that make the break squeek when its time to change the breaks) where at least 2 mm away from touching. My question is if my breaks pad were really at 1-2 mm left, wouldnt it squeek and warn me or was the technician feeding me a line of bull (it doesnt squeek now). He also told me my cabin filter was fithly and when I told him that that was odd since I change it myself at 30K (car has 38) he gave me a look like "oh ****, that didn't work".

They want to charge me $200 for the pad. What really pisses me off is when I brought my car in at 32K for some service, I told them to make sure my breaks were good because I new once I hit 36K, I'm out of pocket.

Please advise.

Sounds like crap to me. I would go to a non-Infiniti mechanic and have them check the breaks. If you have only 1mm or 2mm of pad left your sensors should be squealing.

But if you noticed the pads were ~4mm a few months ago, I would think it's getting real close anyway. This all depends on how many miles you drive and how much you use the breaks. My $.02
