Couple of g35x questions!

I recently just purchased a 2005 g35x sedan. I have been spending numerous hours searching this site, learning things and getting ideas.

Here is what I plan on starting with:
-I will be getting a set of 19 inch rims. I have in narrowed down to 2 styles, either the DPE RO8 Variant S in polished black or the Volk SF Challenge in Diamond Black.
-I will be lowering my car with the eibach pro-kit

I however do have a couple of questions.

1- I searched the boards and found out that there are no springs specifically designed for the g35x. I found that people have used the eibach pro kit and the tein h-tech that are designed for the regular g35 sedan on the g35x. Is this correct?
2- I know that there is no shocks/struts out there for the g35x but is tokico going to be producing them for the g35x?
3- Will I have any rubbing issues going 19x8.5 all around with the eibach pro kit of the tein h-techs?

I haven't lowered my X and I'm running 245/40/18s. My impression is that most folks who've lowered their Xs aren't quite happy with the results. Just my $.02.

KrazyEd, This is probably a really stupid question but why buy the "X" if you're planning on lowering it? The ride height is really useful for driving in snow and it adds some additional protection for the center differential, forward drive shaft, and half shafts.

I know you want the aggressive look that lowering gives but I've got to disagree with the application. What you want belongs on a RWD sedan or coupe, not the "X".

forget lowering it, just put the stillen blower on it and have a real stealth ride

I have seen the X with 19" wheels if you go with a tire with a 40 profile and the right wheels plus the lower front lip to give the illusion of being lowered it's not that bad and you maintain a decent ride...

Well, when i bought the car, I did not know too much about the AWD. I also didnt have any plans on lowering the car but after finding this site, I love the way it looks lowered...gives it a more aggressive look.

Would it really be that bad if I was to lower it with the eibach or tein h-tech springs?

The front suspension is very similar to the FX35 due to the AWD. Parts may be available, just not listed for the "X" cars.

Your ride is beautiful.....why lower it? The options mentioned above are preferable, IMHO.

i like the look of it lowered....Does anyone have a pic of the sedan on 19s and a 40 series tired not lowered?

Some of members think lower it is stupid idea for an AWD. However, there are other automakers that thought it is a good idea. See Audi A4. There is not a whole lot of wheel gaps between the fender and tire for the A4. Mind you A4 uses a different AWD system. Some people like the lowered look. The G35x did not have that design in mind. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. If the G35x can handle it, I personally prefer the lowered look.

You are comparing apples to oranges. The A4 comes with a different fender gap stock.

Lowering our cars (any sedan/coupe) changes the entire suspension geometry. There are somewhat major tradeoffs in handling/tire wear to be had for a "look" that can be accomplished through other means. (eg: different wheel/tire package)

There are parts (camber plates, etc.) that will work on RWD G35's to mitigate the issues associated with lowering, but few if any can be transferred to the "X" due to its front suspension design (similar to the FX35). Any parts for the rear suspension should bolt right in.

The overall ride height is only 10mm higher than the RWD sibling. If that is something you can't live with, I would spend a lot of timein the Wheels/Tires/Suspension area of this board to get some more thorough answers to your query.

I agree with ChicagoX, it is a matter of being prudent. To do it "correctly", there are many factors involved by lowering the car. It's not just simply install the new spring. The look that you get, if not done professionally, will bring more issues than its worth. My 0.02.
