White LED dome lights

I've been wanting to replace the interior lights with white leds for awhile now and just got a chance to work on them. These lights were custom fabricated by myself, I ordered bare led bulbs to make them. Each side took like half an hour to make but was well worth it in my opinion. I initially started out with four leds on each side, but felt that 8 was even better.

Thanks for the compliment. It was pretty basic soldering for the LEDs. It wasn't hard at all, just time consuming. The unit plugs right into the light terminals so its basically plug and play type of deal, no loose wires or anything. The light is pretty bright and comes out white, but I don't know why it came out with a blueish hue in the picture. The light concentrates on the center console and armrest because of the focal lense on the light. It still does retain its fading effect when you lock your doors and arm your alarm system. Its really nice at night!

he should've taken a picture with one light LED and one light stock before he replaced them both.

I have work between 9 and 2 today and take pictures later. I'll take a picture of them side by side versus a plain bulb if I can find one and my PIAA bulb that I had in there before.

As for these bulbs compared to normal LED ones, I have nothing to compare it to so I can't tell you if they are any brighter than what you would be able to buy from somewhere else. All I can say is that you can't fit 8 LED bulbs on a festoon bulb, the most I've seen is four tiny ones built into the festoon bulb.

The plastic cover was really easy to remove. You just pry it off with your fingers where I marked in the picture (nails help on this one).

Pretty much the gist of how it comes out. I used to think my PIAAs were white when I had it side by side to the OEM bulb. Then I put these LEDs next to the PIAAs and then the PIAAs looked yellow...weird...

I wonder if these 8 LEDs suck more or less electricity versus the OEM bulb? Anyone have a clue?

i would imagine it is more or less the same, or at least not a significant difference, +you don't use them that much. Maybe you are concerned with leaving them on accidently and draining the battery, but like i said, i doubt it is a significant difference.

Well there was 12 volts going to the terminals for the bulbs. If I used just one led, then I would have required the use of the resistor because the led would burn out otherwise. You need at least four leds so that you won't require the use of the resistors. 8 worked great for me
