Question I need to ship my g35 from Florida to Vancouver Canada, any recommendation??

I am going to move soon, and I need to ship my G35 sedan from Florida to Vancouver, Canada. Anyone have experience with shipping cars? Is it safe? Can you trust the shipper not to mess around with your car?? so worried~~

Any info or recommendation would be greatly appreciated

Yeah...I can give ya some names to contact. I owned an auto transport co. for many years and still have contacts that are reliable and trustwothy.....not cheap however . They could grab yours while picking up returning "snow-birds" back to NJ. Or I have a customer of mine who does "single custom fully enclosed" transports for highline cars and trucks. His equipt. is new (I sold it to him) and he's well experienced (my choice if I had to go that route). PM me if ya want the info.

You might consider shipping it to Seattle, WA instead of Vancouver. I don't know about tariffs or duties that a transport company might have to collect at the border but if it adds paper work to the job, you can bet they'll add a stiff premium for the service. Vancouver is only a 2-1/2 hour drive from Seattle so it would be easy to drive it the rest of the way from there.

Another alternative to shipping is a driveaway scenario. Many years ago I drove someone's car from Ohio to San Francisco and it worked out really well for both parties. I know it would be nerve wracking to have someone in your car for five or six days but remember, the transport company is going to have your car too and I'll bet for every story of a driveaway car getting wrecked there's a story for the transport company doing damage.

It's probably safer on a transport truck than on the road so if it where my decision, I'd have to give the nod to the transport service unless I was really strapped for cash or the car wasn't a big deal.

Good luck, Cale

I'd go w/ the haul it on the back of a truck option & contact JBX.... Not worth adding 3K-4K miles if you have someone drive it...plus you don't know how they'll treat your car. I'd look into the washington thing too...makes perfect sense. If you do get it on the back of a truck, I'd invest in a car cover & see if they let you put it on? Not sure if this is do-able or not.

+1. I live in Toronto and sometimes when we go to Florida for a couple of months, we ship our car from Buffalo, NY instead. It's much cheaper and less hassle by customs.

Sell your G there and buy a new one in Vancouver, a lot less hassle and stress. Check out www.richmondinfinitinissan.com and remember the canadian $ is about .85 U$ right now. Make sure you check out the Canadian gov. requirements for importing cars. Let me know if I can help.

ever thought about the auto train?? You get a room on the train and you dont put the extra miles on the car (a real plus if its a lease) I know theres a stop in Orlando.

Thanks for all the input guys

I thought about the auto train too, but only goes to washington dc.....which is opposite coast of Vancouver, Canada.

I think the best bet is transporting it to Seattle Washington and then drive up.

Do they still do customs even if my car was purchased in Canada? it still has Canadian Ontario plate..

The car itself is not subject to any customs inspection. You drive up and say you're going home and that's it.
