I have read only bad things about both the goodyear and bridgestone oem tires on this car. I have had my g35 for only 3 days and they came with the bridgestone turanza. i was playing around on internet and noticed people ripping these tires apart verbally. Anyone have any comments on the bridgestones?

Yeah. They ride quieter and smoother on the road than the Goodyears. They're great for commuting and daily driving. They have decent wet weather traction.
They suck at spirited driving.
I plan to try out some Kumho ECSTA KH11's when my Bridgestones wear out (in size 235/50R17). I'd go with Michelin Pilot Sport A/S tires, but right now I autocross my car on my street tires, and I don't want to throw money down the drain (the Michelin's are pricey). Once I get around to having a second set of rims with racing rubber on them, I might try out the Michelins for daily use.

So the stock rims can take up to a 245 right - why not that size? selection?. And when you go to a 50 aspect will that affect your speedo?
Re: Tires on G35
As ryoken pointed out to me when I bitched about the tires, the bridgestones are a grand touring tire not performance. So with that you get a good quiet ride but wallowy handling.

The stock rims can handle a 245/50R17 (but not a 245/45R17), but it's a little farther off spec on tire diameter.. so you're going to have some inaccuracy in the speedometer/odometer. Plus, you're right at the edge of what can fit on a 17x7" rim.. I'd prefer to back down one size. A 235/50R17 is nearly a dead ringer for a 215/55R17 in diameter -- it's the tire diameter that affects your speedometer. Here's a calculator for you: http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html
Plus, Infiniti officially claims that the front can only handle a 225 wide tire without rubbing the suspension.. so how far past that do you want to go? I've heard others claim 245 is fine. I don't know.. I haven't tried anything yet, my OEM tires still have tread left.

Love my 235/50R17 Michelin Pilot Sport A/S tires. They're also the first A/S tire I've ever driven that handles snow reasonably well. I'd still go with a dedicated winter tire, but they're great for those first and last snowfalls of the year, I think about equivalent to Alpin Sports! Also great in rain.

Gordgee,
I really love those tires, too. I have them on my TRD Solara, and I'll probably get them on my G when the OE tires are worn out. By the way, did you have a problem with your front tires rubbing with that width? I'm thinking of going to the same size.

Buying Michelin tires, go to their web site. There is info there on getting a free DVD player when you buy 4 tires!

Presto! It's a link.
Do this (without the spaces):
[ url ]http://your/link/here/[ /url ]
However, I can go buy 4 Kumho tires and a DVD player, and still have $100 left over.

Kumho's turn to crap after 4k. I have used them but not on cars that I want to hear myself think in They get very noisy but they still grip no matter size 15,16 & 17s. They are nice and affordable for track use or a heavy abuse tire-burners. I have the 225/50 17 A/S Pilots and they are noisy as hell and they pull. This I have been told by several reatilers is a standard "feature" of the A/S tire and they don't recommend it unless you need it..ah..the joys of the tirerack. They ride nice and grip very well though. I should have gotten them in 235/50's but I wanted them now...and now I pay for it.

Pilot A/S's are noisy? I thought they were supposed to be quiet?

Not a problem I've had, but some of G35C and 350Z friends have reported that they've had cupping issues...Not just a tire issue, but I was wondering if anyone in a G35S or G35C has had this problem...I haven't, but I'm not running the stock tires...I didn't realize that people had been tearing apart the tires...
