This myth is so ingrained in peoples minds that trying to smack it out of their head will never work. I am an ASE certified Parts Specialist and have worked in the industry for over 6 years and have had to deal with this crap since day one. My response to these people would be "If you can't run synthetic untill it is broken in, then tell me why GM, Dodge, Mercedes AMG and many others use this as factory fill?" and "if you can't mix regular and synthetic only why on God's green earth do the petrol companies make synthetic and regular blends?"

ARGH!

My Toyota Delaership puts in Castrol synthetic blend since I bought my Tundra.

Do I have to wait until 10K on my G before I go synthetic like a post above suggested??

Based on data I've seen reviewing oil analysis for the VQ3.5 engine, I'd wait for about 10,000 miles. What's the rush anyway?

Cars that have synthetic for factory fill have engines that take the synthetic oil into account.

But yes, dino and synthetic oils are fully compatible.

This is an absolute TRUTH. I bought a Buick at 30,000 changed to Mobil 1 and ran the engin to over 230,000 miles without a glitch. Do NOT swithch back from synthetic to conventional ! My G runs on Mobil 1 since 500 miles (5.6 sec from 0 to 60mph - full auto, stock measured with G-Tech Pro)

That is another myth. Synthetic and dino oils are fully compatible. The only time I wouldn't subsitute minerial oil is when synthetics are used as factory fill.

Does anyone actually click links that were provided to educate?
