what's the RWD conversion? You disable the AWD? Whats the benifit? I thought the AWDs put 100% power to the rear unles there is slippage.

If anybody also have a TL look up my screen name on the acura-tl.com to see some cool mods like the Vtec light that I did first on that forum.
This car is not even 5 days old and I can't wait to do some stuff to it. Already tinted it 50% all around, just got the z-tube today, pro-clip phone holder, ordered the Blue fog light bulbs and the Nav OK button bypass module from KP Technologies....Maybe I am going a little too fast.
Anyway just wanted to introduce myself, here are some pics...
Welcome to the board. This is a great site, and with a few exceptions, filled with great members.

A collegue has a new TL, and in a lot of ways, it's a great car. The new TL has more torque steer than what remember of the old car, so for all-round performance, the G35/G35X is much better.

And despite reports of Acura reliability, they have their own issues and recalls. I'm driving my wife's G35 more and more now when I want a bit fun on the week-ends and after work. She like the Benz more anyway.

Thanks all.
Does anyone have an answer to Chief's question about the AWD conversion. I am interested too.

there is about 30% torque going to the front wheels below 30 mph. However...with the AWD on you can not perform donuts and other fun RWD stuff. However, the car is faster both at the track and in a straight line with AWD left on. I am having a switch rigged soon

Not sure what your intent is. I thought his post was funny. My boss has an 05 TL & we give each other **** all the time. His interior is better during the day. I'm one of the few that prefer our orange lighting to the TL's fricken rainbow of colors at night. It's too busy. His FWD plows through turns, while ours is on rails. (less just a bit of body roll) He won't race me in a straigt line.

Note that I really could care less what car is faster. I just know my car feels great to drive. I've had 2 jeeps, Sport-trac(mistake), 4-runner & a Titan before this ride. I love the nimble handling & decent speed the best.

If I would have went w/ the TL (which I almost did) I think I would have been bummed w/ the attributes shared by almost all FWD cars.

Oh yeah speaking of track....

This summer our local dealer is hosting a track day w/ pro drivers from Infiniti. I believe the first half of the day is instructional in nature, then you have the opt to complete solo laps by your self.

I've never driven on a track before. Little nervous for my car's sake, but how much wear & tear type damage can a couple of laps really do? Doesn't seem like it would be any worse than driving twisties up in the mountains.

The only thing I ever noticed after a day of the track is that I needed to replace my brake pads. Other than a little more tire wear than usual, there really isn't anything wrong with a fun day or 2 at the track. That is, of course, as long as you don't brush against the guard rails.
