Hi power AT cars are great. I have a 92 eagle talon AWD AT that runs 11.80s. No boost drop between shifts is a good thing! Not to mention 25psi brake torque launches and 1.5x 60fts.

I'm amazed at how many times I've repeated this, but not many catch on. For straight line acceleration (drag racing), AT's are king. A VERY large majority of fast cars at the track are auto's. They launch better, which results in a better 60', which is critical to a better ET. The manuals will usually post a better trap speed (an indication of more power), but the autos win the race. I've raced an auto Camaro SS (10 sec car N/A) since 2000 and the MT guys in my club need significantly more hp to achieve the same ET.

This advantage translates to the street as well. From a stop, many an auto will beat higher hp manuals. Poor launch and sloppy shifting are the two main reasons.

Of course, from a roll or on a roadcourse (or auto-x), the MT has the advantage.
