I know this sounds like it might be too easy to be true, but I have seen this many times. Buy some spray silicone (it is used for lubrication on windows). They have some that will actually dry and it won't be tacky anymore. You can buy this at any auto parts store. Lube up the window tracks (the sides of the window). Give it a shot before you start replacing motors and whatnot. The tracks can get dried out and cause squeaking/slow operation.

Now that doesn't seem to be the problem, but it sometimes will just plain not work at all when you press the switch. It either seems to work perfect (not slow or anything) or not work at all now. Is this what happend to you guys that had to replace the window motor??
Thanks!
This is exactly what was happening on my coupe before I had the passenger side window replaced (oddly enough, it was my passenger side window that went first also). I had the motor replaced under warranty, and I asked the service manager if they have many problems / what causes the problem. He said that Infiniti installed the same window motor on the sedans and the coupes, but since coupes have longer doors and therefore longer windows, the motors take more abuse in the coupes. The half-up before coming back down phenomenon is typical of window motor failures on power windows with the "automatic up" feature. The motor is designed to put the window back down automatically if it encouters resistance on the way up (like if your arm was in the way when you hit the button). In the case of a bad (or going bad) motor, it manages to get the window about halfway up, encounters problems pushing it all the way up because of the fading power, and then drops it back down automatically.

The dealer can take care of all of it, but I have no idea what the price would be since I had it done under warranty.

ok, thanks for the info. I just found out that the motor costs $200, not sure what labor fee's would be. Debating on doing it myself since no warranty and i'm 2 hrs from the dealer, but seems like it could be a big complicated job.

replacing motors is not that big of a deal. Even thought I have never replaced my G's motor, I just had to had to do it with my 00 Altima. Not very difficult but you'll need two people when it's time to re-install the window. If you like modding, you'll appreciate the fact you saved tons of cash for a job you'll say, THATWASN'T THAT BAD. DITY.
BTW it wasn't even my motor that was bad it was the switch assembly so I did all that work for nothing, when I would have just had to pull the door paned off. The experience was good though

wow, i'd be so pissed if i did all that and it was the switch! Thanks for the info...i've always done all my mods myself, so i'm not worried too much about doing the motor, just the settings and adjustments part afterwards with the auto up/down thing when the door opens and all that stuff makes me more nervous than say doing it on a chevy cavalier. But it looks like i'll save $500+ by doing it plus not have to deal with travel to the dealer 2 hrs away. Thanks again for the info...or confidence builder

By all means, try the silicon spray in the window channels first. Worked for me, not on the G, but on a previous car with the same symptoms.

i'm going to bring this thread back to life! i have something similar to this problem! btw i have an 03 too!

okay so, i have the typical passenger side problem, where it goes up then goes back down, but that hasn't been a real problem, it goes away most of the time. but something just happened recently with my drivers side, it has this clunk noise. okay so i like driving with my windows down, so i'll have both windows down, and when i need them up i use auto/manual(being that i have to hold it) it gives me this clunk noice before going all the way up... and you know how our windows go down slightly when we open our doors, when it goes up as the door is closed, it makes this clunk noise too. shed any light tonight please guys! before i take it to the dealer tomorrow which i really hate!

does anyone go to metro infiniti? i hate that one tall old white dude, he's horrible...

I have the same noise problem with my 03. It's done it for a long time, but the window has never had a mechanical problem to date. I think klwoods might be on to something with the track suggestion - maybe the window is like an 1/8" off or something - just enough to make the noise, but not enough to inhibit the window from rolling up.

Let me know what you find out. I'd be interested to hear the diagnosis from the dealer.

even our lexus did this. Turns out the rubber end at the top was warped, and the child safety mechinism automatically pulled the window down.
