HELP!! Sedan owners

I got a ticket for loud exhaust. Can someone with a legal exhaust (fuji, or stillen etc) with a certificate of being legal make a copy and send me one so I can prove to the courts that it's legal? Mine is not too loud but cops just wanted to give me a hard time...jeez THANKS!!

I'm going to just send in the copy of the documents to the court because I'm fighting it over mail. All I need is just a certificate or a paper that says exhaust made for g35 and it's legal. that's it. What other details would you like?

No unfortunately I couldn't 'sweet talk' my way out of this one

You got a ticket for a too-loud exhaust in a G35 sedan?!

Do you actually HAVE one? I mean, are there still funny-looking twisted pipes attached to the engine going towards the ground?!

[Starts humming "Rice, rice baby" from Vanilla Ice...]

..........

Okay, I'm done now. I think. Quite simply, they have to have a standard for "loud", I'm assuming they say it can't be more then [x] dB. Simply find out what it is and then use a meter to check what your exhaust is putting out!

Otherwise, what did you buy? Grab the receipt and then find it online and catch the company so they can send ya something.

Wow, the only time I got a ticket for a too-loud exhaust was on a 6-cyl Dodge where the whole exhaust, cat included, fell off the car! And then some bastard behind me ran over the cat.

Luck,

Rick

Is there even such a thing? I can see a manufacturer making claims that its product is legal/safe in some states but in others it may not be and to check your local laws.

I think what Rikker recommended is your best bet for beating this.

So, fess up, what exhaust are you running if any?

You need CARB # to prove its legal and it have to be attached on the item (such as intake, exhaust, and blah blah) so it can be proven its legal and don't even have to get a ticket to begin with. Also, your vehicle's exhaust noise level exceeds the noise standard (95db).

Got an ticket for the same thing a few years back on my honda. Follow these steps and get certified: http://www.autorepair.ca.gov/stdPAge...n-Sep_2003.htm

I had a straight through muffler with 2.25" piping and passed with a 93db. Also exhaust need not be CARB cert if they don't replace the cats.

IMO if you got a ticket for "loud exhaust", your exhaust exceeded the noise limit (95 Db). Having a certificate from an exhaust that you may not own, stating that it's CARB legal in all 50 states, isnt going to help you no? What exhaust do you own, or is it a custom one. I've seen a sedan that had an exhaust that belonged on a 2000 dollar civic it was horrible, and here i am thinking the Stillen 1st Gen was loud.

1) call ur local CHP station tell them ur situation that the city needs to check the exhaust Decibel levels.
2) they will give a closest for u to go and get it checked.
3) If u actually have the ticket they sign it for u for free.
4) Whoever gives u his/her certification from the forum will be fuked because they check the car with its vin#
5) I know there is a place in Pierce College.
6) dont be lazy.
7) the only time they will charge $20 is if u go there to get the certification without a citation.
8) There is no carb number blah blah blah blah needed if the citation is stating loud exhaust.
