Fyi Hks Sedan Exhaust Does Not Fit 2005 G35x!!!

FYI

I just got the Rear Section HKS Exhaust for my 2005 G35X and it does not fit at all. There are 3 hangers welded on the muffler- Only ONE fits-

the other one doesnt even exist on the stock muffler so there is not hang for it and the other one point horizontal but the hang for it is verticle. I had to pay a muffler shop to cut 2 out of the 3 hangers off the exhaust and weld on a vertical hanger so it will mount. intall and everything was 48 bucks but still i was kinda pissed as it says it fits a 2005 G35X. I assume it fits a 03G35 and 04G35 but the 05 exhaust muffler looks different on the 05G35 and probably mounts different.

Just want to give any fellow 2005 G35'ers a heads up.

Also,

the grubbs Euro Spoiler looks great put is a pain in the *** to install and most places will give you alot of **** about it because of no mounting hardward, template, nor 3m tape or gaskets. But good look if you are buying that piece....

Mod-on...

Efiniti, it does fit....you just need the specialty aftermarket hanger for aftermarket exhaust mufflers which can be found at everythingg35.com for about $32... this particular hanger will mount to a new location and will still hold the hks muffler in the correct position...

don't mean to sound rude, but this is the kinda of things that happen or could go wrong when you don't do your research.... there were many threads on this, mines included... this is what the forums for.... you basically wrecked a good design by not having the correct information.... and now you go on to say it won't fit for the rest of the folks isn't all that correct... that is what the search feature is for...

i just gotta find a way to post my install pics....

I had to do the same with mine. When you CALL THEM (not internet) make sure they send you TWO of the rubber hangers!!!! My kit only had one.

i had a feeling there should be 2 rubber hangers with the adapter but the previous owner of my hks muffler said there was only one rubber hanger.... the fitment is fine and i get not muffler rattles so i'm not complaining...

Efiniti - so what are your impressions of the exhaust? Have you driven your car with the windows down yet?

Texasscout - what is that in your avatar? I'm drawing blank....

And hope Everythingg35.com sends you BOTH hangers. You need TWO. They sent me only one, and I had to make one for the other side to work for now. They refuse to call me back or reply to my email about this issue.

i just had a muffler shop cut the two hangers that didnt work and re-weld a working one on- Mounted perfect-.

And for the record I DID SEARCh ALOT. But its ok- Im not too pissed just giving a heads up. www.mynismo.com is going to change the description now on there site so people with 05's will know before purchasing. As it says on the site it will work. Which is does not.

As for the muffler itself. Looks great, Sounds perfect. Not too loud I understand its not broken in yet- but tommorow for work i have to drive 55 miles of highway driving. I will let you all know my thoughts on it.

hks muffler definitely sounds deep especially at startup after sitting overnight...it will quiet down after about 30 seconds into the idle... with my mrev+ the sound is a real deep tone...

as for getting a few miles on it, i got mines used (3 months used) from another fellow member so it was technically broken in already... but if you drive it a good distance like i did this past weekend from sacramento to santa cruz, the sounds seems to get deeper and better as i neared my destination....

on about mods, i've practically spent a good chunk of change every month for a series of mods.... all for the better...
