05' 6MT vs 06' S4 6 Speed

I need more brute power so I'm starting to test drive new cars.

I took an 06' S4 for a test drive today...

What a let down, at $80,000CDN. $33,000 more than my 6MT, I expected to be blown away with more power but it just wasn't there.

It's a little faster but it's very deceiving, very smooth so it really doesn't feel much faster.

I'm going to try and track down a C55 AMG for a test drive from this review it's pretty much as fast as the new RS4 and the same price as the S4.

Hmm

Well the S4 is a lot faster but the B6 and B7 feel a bit slow the engine is well really refined and doesnt seem to set off the butt dyno. Also the cars get a bit faster with a few thousand miles on them.

I'm not even considering the M3, I don't want a coupe.

I want brute power, ie) loaded up with 4 people, and you still feel like you can take anyone. Unless the 07 G35 is going to come with a V8 option I don't think another 20 hp in a V6 will get me where I want to be.

I would be great if the C55 AMG did have the manual option, but I think I could probably live with the automatic.

Have you considered a CTS-V?
4 people, 400 hp with a Z06 engine at your command.

I don't think I'm going to buy domestic anymore. The quality just isn't there.

you know that the new S4 is not that much faster than the G right?
there have been a few ppl with bolts on on 350z forum who have
beaten the S4....

with regards to a 4 door monster..hmm
have you looken at the E55 AMG? or a lexus ?
like the new IS or GS or even the coming LS

If I have that kind of money, I might consider a 545i or M5
if that's not too much over your budget

M5 is a no brainer but out of my budget range.

The S4 or C55 AMG are the max I'm willing to go price wise.
