Not sure if this is true but the likelihood of someone putting it on and removing it every time you wash is far-fetched in my opinion. At least it would be for me considering I wash at least once a week at a minimum.
I had one on my 04 G35 Sedan and it took 5 minutes to install. The first time installing it, its very hard because it needs to stretch some. Sit it out in the sun for a hour then install it.
