G35X Vs. G35 Sport

Neal, if you are serious, please PM me. The only thing keeping me from going FI right now is the lack of an AWD dyno within striking distance.
I guess it is a trick to force the ECU or whatever governs the AWD system to do the 0:100 split torque all the time? since according to infiniti, when the car reaches the steady state, the torque split is 0:100; while the snow mode can force the torque split to be 50:50
and let see what Neal will say ! I guess many people will the bring their Gx to dynos =) since AWD dyno isn't that easy to find

there ya go
the switch

the wiring (from the fuse box)

and the AWD light which signifies that the system is deactivated
(or broken
)

and some proof...
I did not have a friend to take a picture, so I just used a security camera. I know I know, you can barely tell but this is the best I can do for now.
It was raining, so I was able to break torque without making any noise or cause any strain to the car.

if you know any video hosting sites i can put the video there.
if you want to get rid of your awd easily, just pull the awd fuse. You can later pay a shop (I paid like 60 bucks) to rig a switch. Works very well.

Road and Track tested a G35x vs. a G35 (standard suspension) and they came to the conclusion that the G35x has an advantage in dry and even more so in wet. I would really like to see how a stock sporty G35 vs. a sporty G35x would compare but the G35x doesn't have that package (unless someone did a swap)

How long have you been running this way? Any passes down the strip?
Thanks for the vids and info.

Here's the problem with that aticle and where these claims that the X "handles" better are unfounded. The rwd G in that test was a base model on A/S Turanzas (look at the RWD G they show in the article and it's clear it's a non-sport model which comes with A/S weak rubber). It's really a no-brainer that the X will out handle this RWD in the test because the RWD has a soft suspension and weak tires. My 03 with the Sport suspension was an Iowa car which means it call with crappy Turanzas and not summer rated rubber. No doubt the car is a handful around tight corners because of the crappy rubber. The X will definitely handle better because it won't throw it's tail out near as wide because of it's traction advantage. However, if this test would have included a RWD Sport with the Sport 18s an summer rubber, the RWD would have taken the prize.

IMO, to say a G35X handles better than a Vette, Viper, etc on a road course is quite a stretch.
Sure...and the race-prepped Mustang Cobra was just poking around with an instructor driving...
I was actually running with folks with more experience, according to the grouping.
There is no way a G35X will put up ultimate numbers greater than those dedicated sports cars, but the AWD provides a tremendous advantage on corner exit. Don't knock it 'til you've tried it. Lap times speak for themselves, as do the instructors' accolades.
As posted above, Sport>G35X>Non-sport. A sport-equipped 5AT or 6MT would most likely have turned better times, but that wasn't at issue here. The test was the same car, same tires, AWD vs. RWD. Put the better rubber on the "x" and it will run with the sport-equipped cars.

I've driven with Wayne (ChicagoX) and he drives very well. The X does allow for a bit more "*****". At RA, he was able to give more throttle out of a corner than I could - even with V710's! I would definitely get an x if it came with a manual transmission. BTW, I have a 05 6MT.

that would be cool to see how an X with a good tire setup....maybe with at least 225 summer tires does against a 6mt sedan sport. I think my 05X has 215 Goodyear Eagle RSA's on it stock....not terrible, but just adequate.

If they introduce a 6-speed AWD option, I'd probably trade up the first time I see one on the lot. The Auto is a real bummer for me, though I like being able drive through chain control on the way to Tahoe.
