For the last 2 weeks, there is a weird rumbling sound coming from the engine bay from my 03.5 sedan.
At first I thought it might be a possible that part of the exhaust rusted out and got a little hole in it.
But under my careful examination while I drive, the sound is directly related to the tranny and engine. The rumbling sound goes up when I apply throttle. When my car slowly rolls to the stop, the sound slowly dies down along when the auto downshifts......but the sound is still there when the engine idles, just not as loud.

It is beginning to **** me off.... and I can't get my car checked coz I am going to vacation soon and can't come back til mid May.

Anyone have a suggestion of what this problem is??? I am seriously scared that I would damage my car since I still have to drive it until I go on vacation.

do you hear it more when inside the car? It'smost likely a fuel damper.

There are two of them as part of the engine/emission control system; had the same noise on my 03.5; dealer fixed it; no harm to the engine if you run it for a while; they said and hope it's not a common problem; they had to order one of them.
