Here are a couple of additional pictures. The cover attaches in two places by the fender. It is secure even though it attaches in only 2 places. If you wanted you could find another place to attach it, there are additional fasteners in the box.

I couldn't take it either. I just ordered mine from Grubbs for $58.93 delivered. It has bugged me all 3 times I have opened my hood and had to hold it up staring at the "missing cover" spot. Now I have to consider buying struts for the hood so I don't have to hold it when I want to look at my new cover.

Maybe the handling will be more balanced as well...(?)

Is there a kit to add the gas struts to the hood??? (I wouldn't even have to think about getting that mod.)

I'm hoping there's less tire wear on the passenger side and less under steer on left turns. I honestly don't understand why Infiniti left out this cover and struts for the hood. Go figure.

excuse my ignorance i guess i am a "hood strut noob" but why can't you just use the rod on top of the grill? do coupes not have any way of holding the hood up or something?

The rod works fine, except you have to use a rod! It's just one of those things that you would expect on a "higher end" vehicle. Hell, they put struts on the trunk lid to eliminate hinges. A rod for the hood can get in the way when you're working under the hood also.

I think there are at least 3 options for hood struts: Top Secret, Tein & Modified 350z hood struts. Here is a link I found while searching:

https://g35driver.com/forums/showthr...=hood+dampener

I forgot to add to my list of useless future mods the following: $25 painted bumper plugs and a real wood dash kit (but not over the top with wood on everything).

I think people in Japan might look for the passenger side cover instead

I figure the left engine cover will go down in price like the clear markers did in several more months.
