Rough Shifts 05 G35x

Got a 06 Loaner G35x with 100 miles on the odometer. I realised, besides being loads smoother than my 8,500 mile 05 G35x (which is probably because it is new) that the shifts 2-3, 3-4, are not rough at all like mine.

In my vehicle, when I shift in manumatic mode while holding down the gas, the car thumps loud enough to shake the rear parcel shelf and rearange the equiptment in my trunk. The 06 loaner did not have this "thump".

I have had rough shifts from the beginning in my vehicle. The grounding wires I installed actually softened the impact of the shifts, but no where smooth like the loaner.

Is this a problem I should take up with the dealership?

on a seperate note, I have been reading some posts regarding dealerships, and I just wanted to point out that infiniti of massepequa is awesome, especially with modified vehicles. The lot had a few coupes with body kits and wheels (which I guess also had engine work); a mechanic was working on a modified coupe in the garage no problem. Some staff actually gave me recomendations on what I should be doing with my G next. haha!

I have the same problem like yours. Particularly when shifting in-between gears. I am not too concern at this point since I am covered by warranty. When I am near to the of my warranty, I will bring my car into the shop to see if it is a problem...

i think any car with automatic if you floor it will shift rough, including toyotas with the smoothest automatic. We have 05x i push it hard at times, but dont notice any 'jerking" shifts that I ve seen with honda civics (typical crappy honda automatics). Your tranny may have a problem though. have dealer look at it. As far as I know, the body engine tranny and everything are same on 05 and 06x - The brakes are supposedly different though. SO YOU NEED TO HAVE THEM CHECK OUT YOUR CAR

I have an 06 G35x with only 700 miles on it. I have noticed that when in auto mode it can be a slight bit clumsy like most autos but you notice it more because of the amount of torque involved. I switch over to MM and shift and its smoother than my Lexus.

My 06 loaner definetly does not jerk at all. Shifting is quick...the jerk sounds like the car is falling apart.

thanks guys, I will definetly tell the dealer about this.

He's talking about MM shifts only guys....

The 2-3 shift when in MM mode on my car is much harder than MM shifts in the other gears. I was told this was normal.

I only get a rough 2-3 under partial throttle. I would talk to the dealer.

maybe I am mistaken. I will try partial 2-3 on my loaner than compare with my real one

well, the 06 only does so at partial throttle from 2-3 as stated here. but my 05 definetly thumps at full throttle 2-3 3-4. I will go get it checked out

btw...can I ask my dealer to do a compression check on my engine? would they cover the diagnostics under warrenty? ( I am just curious to see if my engine is running well)

It should shift smoothly in MM between all gears. Mine does.

Maybe its the TCM version that you have. Does anyone know if the 06x has different TCM software than the 05x? I would sortof doubt that it would be different. What else can effect this?

what are you doing to my loaner vehicles!!!! hahaha... j/k

it's 100 miles on the car let it break in will you? the thump like i said is b/c the car is in 100% rwd mode so all the power is goign to the rear differential.

I have 05 G35x, when I shift in manumatic mode while holding down the gas, the car does not thump at all. When I take it for 1/4 mile run, I floor the pedal all the way & shift all gears at WOT no problem.

Def. check it out with dealer.

da mayor, do you honestly think that ANY of your loaners are broken in properly

I saw a lady before me at the dealership pick up a loaner and peel away from the curb...and you tell me I dont treat the vehicles I drive properly

anyways, I get that thump in the loaner at that point, but in my car I get that thump extra loud and between more gears!! I have had that since day one even at partial throttle.
