now would be a good time to replace the clutch. (out of pocket) it would be
minimal labor to replace it (if any). Im positive they would swap over the old clutch with the new engine. (of course thats considering if you have an Manual).

Guess you didn't read the whole thread and that it's a loaner car that he'll be done with in June!? (1/2 month away)

I asked about that, he's not sure....but probably not. Most likely it'll be a refurbished '03 engine.

Every single forum starting from honda civic to porsche forums, at least one person has a engine failure.
So i dont think its smart to generalise the VQ motor as a unreliable one.

How many have we seen here to date, 2, 3? I have to agree, EVERY nameplate has things like this happen to some extent, cars all come of an assembly line. And as far as resale/trade, why would that even have to be brought into play? If that's the case, EVERY warranty issue should be. You have to look at the overall performance of the VQ engines, and I'm betting the failure rate is very low. Anyone?

yeah VQ is regarded as one of the most reliable engines. wins all kinds of awards. the shop obviously fuxed the fuel hose recall and caused some major ****.

I wouldn't take that. It was almost a brand new car that failed under warranty. I'd demand a brand-new engine (unless there's something big I don't know about). Refurbished stuff is okay, but new is new.
