Paint on Homelink button is wearing

Has anyone else experienced this? The black homelink button is now almost all white. The paint on the homelink button has worn off! Just wondering if this is very common. I don't have fingernails so I wouldn't expect the button to wear just from everyday use....Thanks

Take it into the dealer and see what they can do.

I'm taking it in next week with my 45K service. The service advisor didn't seem very receptive when I told her about the paint chipping off. She said she would look at it. Cross my fingers!

Don't take no for an answer, they'll fix or go to another dealer.

I don't believe it's paint, it's more of a thin plastic coating I think. Are these mirrors actually made by HomeLink?

GenTex makes the mirrors.

But it seems to be a issue with peoples fingers and the person. Some people have more acid in there skin and it will eat away at the buttons. Even the remote to the alarm of the car usually is the first sign of it.

It might be worth it to look into a piece of clear vinyl, like they use on vinyl signs, then place it over the button once it's replaced, it would be easy to trim away the excess, you might be able to get a scrap from one of those fast sign shops in your area.

G35_TX, you make a good point about acid in the skin. My keyfob was just from having it in my pocket, my previous Ford fob's never rubbed off though.

A couple of excellent ideas. Although a quality product would not chip or scratch off like this...I hope they cover this under warranty. If not, there is one other dealer in town. I will find out on wednesday!
