today all of a sudden my AC unit started by itself (auto/econ). the stereo unit lights and the AC unit lights went all off and i have no control over anything!.... any suggestions?

 

See if it does it again & check the fuses?

 

i restarted the car...same problem...do you know where the fuse box is?

took to the dealer. they said the board behind the stereo (the one that has the stereo LED's) is bad. $750 CDN. ouch
They also said that SOME particular VIN ranges have had this issue a lot so Infiniti is giving out the board for those specific VIN ranges for 80 bucks..unfortunately my car wasnt in that range so that doesnt apply to me...

 

Ask around, somebody doing a DD conversion may sell you their controls.

 

the problem is that there are around 8 different versions of this board (for one year) all have different part numbers

 

yeah so just buy some1's stock HU/AC that is changing to double din, buy the whole thing and swap it in, as long as it is from any 03-04 and you get the complete HU it will work, and it won't be too expensive maybe $100

 

where should i post/search to find one of these?

 

I think I have a similar problem AC on by itself but ALL my climate control lights are on. And none of the buttons do anything. ie.. turn off, change temp, etc....

Trance, post in the classifieds and in the Audio Video forum asking for a complete stock HU from 03-04 see what you can find, first check the classifieds to make sure none are already for sale at a reasonable price.

You are PROBABLY under warrenty. Depends on the cars in-service date. Some of the 03s came out in early 02.
