audio system compared to Lexus's Mark Levinson?

JGF, I don't know why Infiniti didn't change the brakes on the '05 X, makes no sense to me, my '05 RWD has the bigger brakes, almost non-existent dust, the only '05 RWD's I see with dust are the loaners, LOL, so probably haven't been cleaned since they were new, and it's not even as bad as my '04 did in one week with rain, and at almost 10k my rotors and pads still look like new, can't speak as far as the nav, since I don't have that option.

I've read that Infiniti has made an upgrade to their navi with the '07 G35 which is promising but it's hard to top Honda/Acura's navigation system. In the G35's defense, it at least gives you the bird's eye view which makes up for some of it's shortcomings (slow loading times, no touch screen, takes the longest route, always). I think Infiniti upgraded the brakes on the RWD model and left the AWD model out because they were attempting to save money and figured AWD vehicles would be driven by more conservative drivers (same reason why Lexus only made the IS250 AWD I suspect) but they've since learned otherwise. It's not a bad car by any means and I still enjoy mine quite a bit because it's so reliable and inexpensive. If I had these problems and I was paying BMW/Lexus money, we'd be having a completely different discussion!

The navigation is subpar and the brake quality is severely lacking on my '05x.. But, for $35,000 it's nothing I can't live with. It beats the hell out of the Subaru I was driving and until I stop being too frugal to upgrade to a BMW/Lexus, I'll deal with the nuisances of the G35.
RLampke, I probably wouldn't wait for the '07 G35 if I were you... I mean it's still Infiniti. One thing goes wrong with that car (mind you it's the first year of the new refresh) and you'll be just as pissed as you are now. At least with another brand you will be able to have a "fresh start" with your car.

To say that I'm unhappy is an understatement, but this issue will be resolved soon.

Honda's Nav is very strong. Better than any other OEM system I've played with (Merc, BMW, Lexus, Infiniti, GM, VWAG, Ford). First, it's simple. Secondly, it works, and works well.
My O5X has the small brakes and a ton of brake dust. I have about 17k on the odo, and these puppies don't seem long for this world.
If I paid 330 money, I'd be uber pissed.
Back on topic-
My Mom has the SC with the ML in it. That system is pretty solid for OEM. Scofield never sounded so good on another OEM. Very little distortion.
The best aftermarket system I've had was a Mac amp'd MB Quart setup backed by a Pioneer Premier deck in my old Passat. Not much compared to what I've seen in the Audio forum, still way better than any other OEM, short of the ML. The aftermarket was more tunable which gave it a distinct advantage. However, I was a novice and it took an expert to make it sound perfect. The ML gives you that out of the box.
Bose has the ability and resources. Maybe they'll step up to the challenge. It'll depend on how much Nissan was willing to spend on the system. If I'm not mistaken, Lexus charges a pretty penny for the ML setup.

My mom has a 2004 LS430 with Mark Levinson , I have a g with non premium, my friend has a 05 G35 with bose, and my cousin has a FX 45 fully loaded... the mark levinson is untouchable! Bose blose lol. Even their home theater systems suck, have you noticed how the power ratings are never stated? You dish out over $2000 for a home theater system and they dont even tell you how many watts your pushing.. lame. Even the old nakamichi systems in the Lexus's were better than bose. Thats why I didnt pay the extra 2000$ on my car for the "premium" package, I'd rather spend $350 bucks on a set of Infinity or Polk speakers. And the 10 inch subs or whatever they are that are supposed to be in the door will be greate for mounting custom shallow mount subs... lots of potetnial for customization.

Thought you guys might find this interesting, just for comparison's sake:
http://www.edmunds.com/reviews/list/...5/article.html
Alot of people have been comparing the bose in the G with the ML in the LS430, but is that really fair? Also, though many have been giving Bose a bad rap, it seems as if they are more than capable to build a world-class sound system. Can't wait to hear the new G.

Sound is subjective - but Bose is just a mainstream system w/cheep components no matter how you slice it. I would not expect for this new system to break any new ground in the G - it should sound much better then what is currently installed, but when you start from the bottom you can only go up.
