2007 G35 uses "VQ35HR"

A taiwanese magazine has gotten info that the new VQ will be called VQ35HR.
The article is basically in Chinese, so maybe you guys can use bablefish to translate it.

Here's the link:

Interesting......

Nissan's VQ37 engine should be ready for the G35 Coupe debut in 2008.

VQ35 (260)
VQ35 (280)
VQ35 (298) 7000rpm
VQ35 HR (???) 7500rpm - I am guessing around 315hp

VQ37 (???)

07 Sedan will carry the new engine as in 'VQ35 HR'

VQ37DE is currently scheduled to go in the next gen 370Z, no word yet on which motor will be in the next G Coupe. (I still think the next coupe looks like the engine bay can accomodate a V8)

nissan is finally using sports car tuning into the VQ engine. hopefully its stronger and can take more abuse like the RB series and fully replace the RB as the highest performance nissan engine.

I still think the next coupe is going to be more an M type than a G, just seems larger, and they called it the "Coupe Concept" not the G35 Coupe, may be wrong, but that's my guess at this point.

Yep...
I think Nissan started using VQs in their races since 2003. Even the GT-Rs had VQs before they retired from JGTC. They are 3.0 liter though...

HR Stands for High Revolution, it will include equal length exhaust system and two new VTC systems with a redline of 7500 rpm. That's pretty much what I gathered from the article but I couldnt understand what the DLC thing does.

The 07 Z also gets the HR engine, apparently:
Maybe they'll get it in a higher tune? Should make things very interesting.

"350Z Coupe and 350Z Roadster

The 2007 Nissan 350Z is scheduled to go on sale in January 2007. The changes for the new model year will include new exterior colors, a new gray colored convertible top (Roadster models), Active Head Restraints and performance enhancements including a new VQ35HR engine

More information on the 2007 Nissan 350Z will be available at a later date "

nissannews.com

The "performance enhancements" are what have me wondering just what is going into the new Z. With all the talk about the 07 G, I forgot the Z was also due for a mid-life renewing. I think what goes into the 07 Z may be a good indicator of what's going into the 08 coupe?

I was thinking the exact same thing, that the '07 Z and '08 G Coupe will both have this new performance engine, it would make since.

I pulled this off some japanese site and then translated it in google, so it reads kinda weird. but it seems to have good info on the new VQ35HR.
_____
new generation “VQ” engine, when the engine which is loaded onto the next term skyline, becomes “the high rotary” “high response” engine is. As for “VQ type” in the United States from the fact that it possesses the suitable name value, just type name probably is to do that way. With 3500cc it becomes “VQ35HR”, it means with to come off substantially from designation rule of former engine type. As for HR” ““High Revolution (high revolution)” “High Response (high response)” in sense, as for main specification, ① new design cylinder block. The rudder frame was added, on exhaust cam side electromagnetism VTC the smooth blowing rising was actualized lightly to the setting ⑤ isometric exhaust manifold and 7500 revolutions when substantial rigid improvement ② left and right complete symmetrical inhalation and exhalation of air system ③ worldwide first hydrogen free DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) with coating in addition to the oil pressure VTC of friction decrease ④ air inlet cam side, class top-level environmental efficiency high output, large torque was compatible, is. Perhaps, with VQ35HR of 3500cc, you aim for 320 horsepower or more, probably will be and, VQ25HR of 2500cc is not that output improves to 250 horsepower vicinities, probably will be? But, until the next term skyline appears, it probably means that the serious sale inactivity continues.
_____

but the main changes are:
① new design cylinder block. The rudder frame was added, on exhaust cam side electromagnetism VTC the smooth blowing rising was actualized lightly to the setting
⑤ isometric exhaust manifold and 7500 revolutions when substantial rigid improvement
② left and right complete symmetrical inhalation and exhalation of air system
③ worldwide first hydrogen free DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) with coating in addition to the oil pressure VTC of friction decrease
④ air inlet cam side, class top-level environmental efficiency high output, large torque was compatible

and yes it will be in the new 07 350Z as stated above.
