When you get the Navigation and Premium Packages together on the 2007 Infiniti G35 ( G35 Journey, G35x AWD, G35 Sport, and G35 Sport 6MT ) the audio system you get is the Bose ''Studio on Wheels'' audio system w/ RDS, 10 speakers, in-dash single CD with Burr Brown Digital Audio Converters, and a 6-disc trunk-mounted CD player with MP3 playback capability. On the other hand, when you just get the Premium Package on the 2007 Infiniti G35 ( G35 Journey, G35x AWD, G35 Sport, and G35 Sport 6MT ) the audio system you get is the Bose "Studio on Wheels" audio system w/ RDS, 10 speakers, in-dash 6-disc CD player with MP3 playback capability, and Burr Brown Digital Audio Converters. Hope this clears things up. The only thing left is the pricing!

I think it's very stupid that the Adaptive Front Lighting System ( AFS ) isn't a part of the Premium Package ( or at least a stand-alone option ) and the Rearview Monitor isn't a part of the Navigation Package.

So, the G35 (22.5 mpg) gets 2 less mpg than the IS350 (24.5 mpg) and the 335i (24.5 mpg). At 12,000 miles per year, the G35 requires more 43 gallons, or $130 more per year. Big deal, considering that a G35 will probably be $4000 cheaper than a IS350 and $8000 cheaper the 335i, all similarly equipped. Take that $4000/$8000 and put it in a money market account, which guarantees about 5% per year these days. That gets you $200/$400 per year, which more than pays for the $130 extra gas for the G35.

IMO, this mpg thing about the G35 is becoming more of a marketing/emotional thing than anything else. We're talking about a $35,000 to $40,000 car, and we're complaining about $130 per year? Come on...

The G35 has 300+ hp, does a sub-14 1/4 mile, gets 22.5 mpg combined EPA, and can take a family/friends of four on long trips in comfort. The 335i sedan and the IS350 get a bit better in mpg, but I sure as hell wouldn't want to be in the back of either one of those cars on an extended trip.

Well, if you put it THAT way...

But I'm sure it's something that the BMW/Lexus salesmen will be drilling to customers when downplaying the G35.

Great, so I get the same feature (6-disc trunk-mounted CD changer) I had when I had a Dodge Intrepid in the late 90s.

I thought we had moved past trunk-mounted CD changers. Especially in a 35-40k car! I assume it's a physical space limitation behind the dash (hard drive in place of where the CDs would get held). But, I can't believe they couldn't have engineered it so you could have both. Well, if the NAV option on the '07 costs more than it does now ($1800) then I likely won't be considering it anyway so it will be a moot point then I guess.

Normal package marketing.....
They do it on purpose to try and sell you another package to get the one option you want.

Navigation Package
Infiniti Navigation System...XM™ satellite radio (requires Premium Package)

Satellite Radio
Sirius® or XM™ (requires Premium Package)
This makes it sound like only XM comes with the navigation package. Is Sirius available with navigation, and if so, are they going to make us pay twice?

This may be true if you just factor in numbers but many of the people on this board average in the mid to high teens on the current G35 sedan and it has similar specs to the new one in regards to mileage. 12,000 miles a year seems really low too.

Third, its about principle as much as anything. If corvettes can have way more HP than a G35 and albeit they are a bit lighter, still destroy the G35 in MPG something is wrong. The problem isn't just the mileage that it gets, it's that Nissan/Infiniti aren't working on a way to get a 300HP car with GOOD mileage as well. They just seem to have the MPG as an afterthought.

Agreed. It may seem a little overly simplistic, but why hasn't Infiniti/Nissan spend as much $$$ on updating the transmission as they did on the engine?

12,000 miles per year isn't "really" low. It's the average number of miles that Americans drive per year, per car.

Sure, the G35 gets lower than EPA, and the 2007 will probably do so as well. But so do most other cars (per the CR real world mileage test).

Look on Clublexus. Many IS350 owners are getting in the high teens.

XM Radio is included in the Nav package because of the XM NavTraffic which is supposed to show real time traffic info on the nav map.

Does anyone know what model tires come on the 07 X? I want to find some reviews and decide whether I need dedicated winter tires or not. Unfortunately all I know is that the tires are Goodyear Eagle A/S.

*I tried searching for this first, but found nothing. Forgive me if I missed something.

Ah very true... My corvette gets 33MPG if i cruise in 6th on the highway... but if i'm messing around its too easy to get around 12MPG. Anyways... I can't wait to trade the vette in for the G35!
