Lease or purchase?

I just did a quick calculation on Infiniti's website. With the packages you requested, $6k down, 60 month purchase @ 6% interest.....your payment would be $646.68. This is based on 06 pricing, so you can expect a small increase in your payment for an 07. Hope this helps.

The lease payment estimator on Infiniti's website is "temporarily unavailable". Keep checking Infiniti's website and that will give you a ballpark idea. Maybe some others here can provide some input that have leased an X with similiar money down.

With $6k down, I think you will be fine.....but I am just guessing though.

From what I've been reading lately, putting $$ down on a lease is not the best thing to do; obviously, it just lowers the payment by lowering the cap cost...prepaying your lease in 1 lump sum payment up front if you will. Although I've never done it before, I'm planning on doing the Multiple Security Deposit (MSD) option on my next car lease. This too will lower your monthly payment by lowering the MF; not quite as much as putting $$ down, but it can lower the payments significantly. Not all financial leasing companies allow it, but I believe IFS does allow up to 7 MSD's I think. I'm not sure what the typical security deposit amt. is; I think it's like $700, so 7x$700 = $4,900 that you'll get back at the end of your lease. You will need to ask the dealer about it, and specifically ask him to recalculate the monthly payment with $x in MSD's.

This way, it's like your giving IFS a "loan" of $x (so they get the interest on it), and you get all of it back at the end of your lease, instead of the "down payment" where the $$ just goes to IFS forever, and you'll be out that amt. of $$. I've never paid a security deposit or put any $$ down on a car lease before, but this MSD to lower your monthly payments makes more sense to me. Laying out an extra $6k that's gone forever is a hard pill to swallow. I'd rather lay it out, knowing I'll get it back in 2-3 years.

Don't put money down on a lease, unless it is for security deposits. Put it in the bank, and use it to make part of the payments every month. If you put $6k down, and total the car in a month, you do NOT get your $6k back.

please go into MSD a bit further cuz i plan on putting down a big down payment on my lease(08 coupe) about the same 6k. i put 5k down on my v6 accord coupe and i plan on buying it out then selling it. the absolute worst that can happen is me getting back 3k from selling it. and thats the worst.
i just drive carefully and cross my fingers that i dont total it. but i can honestly say there is no possible way i am gonna total it! crash maybe not total!

Dont use infiniti's lease calculator... its inaccurate.

Use this one:

http://www.smartmoney.com/autos/leas...x.cfm?story=cc

Its really good and I estimated my payments for my 06 within the dollar range.

Even if you're the greatest driver in the world, someone else may hit you or your car may get hit and totaled while parked or your car may get stolen or the parking lot your car is in may get flooded or burned down and your car along with it.

As you can see there are a TON of ways your car can get totaled having little or nothing to do w/ your driving ability.
