Of course there will be some Nissan styling cues that are similar, but the same, I don't think so IMO.

Did anyone read the new Car and Driver review of the '07 G35?

Pretty good, given their BMW bias!

I would have to agree. We know family resemblence is evident in every car company and I have seen both of these cars in person and I barely see the styling cues you guys are seeing. The 07 G35 has evident styling cues from the FX, M and possibly the late J30, but I dont see how anyone can think these two cars look alike. Even based on the current available pic's, which have yet to show the Altima's true form, these cars do not look alike.

I also feel the resemblence between Infiniti and Nissan cheapens Infiniti's image, but I dont see a strong enough resemblence between the 07 Altima and the 07 G35.

I don't think it cheapen Infiniti's image whatsoever. Other manufacturers do this as well......ie 2007 ES350/2007 Camry and Acura CSX/Civic. Those are just a couple of quick examples. Do you feel that it cheapens Lexus and Acura's image as well?

That depends on the brand image it's being watered down to. Toyota and Honda all carry a higher brand image than Nissan. The industry trend today is to integrate styling queues from the Mfg.'s hi-end line down to the mainstream line - not necessarily a bad thing so long as it's done right. I personally think the Altima looks nothing like anything Infiniti has in its stables - which is good. The one mistake Infiniti made in the past was using the same garbage interior design/assembly/materials at Nissan did - but that changed w/the new M and looks like w/the new G as well.

No. I certainly dont think Lexus' image has been hurt at all. I think we would all agree Infiniti's image was tarnished prior to the Goshen period. I feel one of the reasons was Infiniti did not manage to sell itself as the upscale brand. Although the Q has always been upscale but cars like the I30 and QX4 did more than copy styling cues. They were practically rebadged Nissans.

That is not how I feel now. Infiniti has set itself apart from Nissan in the last 5/6 years.

+1 I agree, the last several years has really changed Infiniti, I never paid much attention to Infiniti until the release of the '03 G35! The only "rebadge" now appears to be the QX56.

I certainly wish that the new G had the integrated fogs in the bumper like the altima...
