Navigation: 3D building graphics

Nissаn is promising 3D building graphics on the '07 nаvigation system. These will only be in some downtown locations, it's reasonable to assume, but does anyone know what data sets Nissаn will use for this purpose? If it's the Sanborn data used on Google Earth -

http://www.sanborn.com/products/citysets.htm

- it might actually be useful. Of course, one reason I'm saying that is because the Sanborn 3D data sets include beautiful downtown Sacratomato.

Bonus question, for no extra credit - is this the first presentation of U.S. 3D building data in a nav system? I know it's been available for Japanese cities for a while. I'm too lazy to check if the '06 M navigation offers this feature.

Only drawback is that when you start filling the pictures with buildings, you start blocking views of streets which defeats the purpose of having a NAVI if you ask me.

A few monuments are a nice touch, but overdoing it will make the navi very impractical imo.

Ahhhh, my old stomping grounds. It's been a while since I've heard it called that. BTW, where did you see the data set of downtown Sac? I saw the PDF file, but was wondering if there was a nav screen capture.

I haven't seen any '07 G35 nav screen captures, just the few images from road tеsts or the Infinіti web site that happen to show a nav screen. None that I've seen show the 3D buildings. Where I have seen them is on Google Earth. It requires you to download and install a free client application (from Google, natch) but it's very cool. Google Earth lets you toggle the 3D buildings and I assume/hope that the Infinіti nav system would allow that too, since Speedaholic is correct that they could be too much of a good thing at times.

Yes - you can toggle the "BirdView" on/off
I checked it out when I saw the car.
