My Audio/Video Critique

I just spent the last 2 hours inside and out of the new G. Some things people were inquring about so I figured I'd just post answers to them.

-In the Nav Package there is auxilary inputs in the center console -- you can connect your iPod, camcorder, and even digi cam to watch videos/movies while you're in park w/ the brake down (similar to the current M w/ advanced tech package)

-took off the engine cover and these dual intake manifolds will probably be a good aftermarket piece since there's room for some company to have them ported in diameter.

-the rear headroom lost maybe 1/2" of space

-the lady's voice is a lot warming than the current lady speaking

-3000 songs can be stored on the 9.3GB hard drive

-aluminum trim is a lot more refined than the current aluminum trim

-software works a lot faster than the current 2007 M-series

-spokes on the rims are pretty flush so anybody that loves curbing them won't have issues hitting the spokes

So, how do you transfer songs? Compact flash? Rip CD? CD full of MP3's?

Thanks for the info Kenny. I'd like to know the answer to mikepro's question as well. Also, are you able to play MP3s from the CF card?

yeah, I recall reading that you can rip CDs from the player directly into the Hard drive at 4X and it also allows you to listen to the CD while it is ripping, or you can transfer the MP3 from a data CD directly onto the HD.

you can't rip MP3's from a disc... only from the CF disk.

normal CD's you can burn the music onto the hard drive

just push record on the screen and that is it.

you can customize what mood of music you want to listen to and so forth. the clarity is 5 times better than the current model especially w/ the volume up you can hear the clarity from the speakers and how well placed they are-- also not much rattling even w/ the bass up on high

  • Can one of the Personal Video Players (PVPs) out there also be connected and play through the cаr's screen/audio system?
    http://cnet.search.com/search?chkpt=...q=pvp&tag=srch
  • What format(s) will play video through the AUX input - MPEG-4?
  • Will the movie-play feature work in a MT cаr which, of course, has no "Park", as long as the cаr is in neutral with the hаndbrake engaged?

How would you describe the richness and deepness of the bass, at both low and high volumes?

On the A/V input, is that composite or S-Video. I'd also like to know:
"Will the movie-play feature work in a MT cаr which, of course, has no "Park"
Nobody has posted a picture yet of the Aux inputs right?

Its plain ol' composite inputs
(yellow for video and red/white for audio) - not that you need s-video or component to display on that tiny screen

the inputs are inside the center console, btw - out of view (unless the source device is too big to fit in the console )

No idea about MT+video - don't even know if any dealer has an MT for "public" viewing right now !

Looks like the new Platinum Graphite. Looks great IMO, it's the color I ordered.
