What's the deal with this Oct 26 2007 G35 Sedan unveiling?

Is it going to be hot dogs and balloons for the kids? Or.......

Will it be something substantial for those interested in purchasing?

Will it be all fluff and no substance?

Only a few days left to find out. Tustin, CA and Mission Viejo, CA are both doing it. I'm assuming it's nation wide.

Haven't seen anything or received any notice of an "unveiling" here.

I'm not sure if every dealer is doing the same thing but mine is serving drinks and finger foods plus giving us all the information on the new G35. Then there will be test driving time. It lasts about two hours I think.

I believe it's up to each dealer as far as food goes. I got my invite and it says "Please join us for Hors D'oeuvres and the unveiling of the most exciting new sport sedan in years".

Got my bid from the Elk Grove (CA) dеalership in the mail yesterday. No custom G35 postage stamp like in Canada, though, just a postage meter strip. I'm assuming that the star of the show will be the same cаr I drove on 10/13, the day after it arrived at the dеalership. My wife is interested in seeing it, even if she doesn't get to drivе it on Thursday, and the invite promises "refreshments", which is enough to get me to turn out. We won't make up our mind about the cаr until we can see one with gray leather and drive an MT.

I don't know if all the invites nationwide have the same copy, but mine says "Designed to go beyond the stark industrial design of its class ..." - a not-so-subtle dig at BМW, I assume.

The launch event will not allow any test drives. You either do it before (if your dealership allows it), or starting Oct 27.

My local dealer mentioned something about food and wine. I asked a salesman if I could test drive then and he said probably if not many people are wanting to. If will try to go just for fun. If it really sucks I will just leave.

Hmm...that's interesting. My dealer here will have one G35 to view and one to test drive. Different dealers to different things I guess.

I've already test drove myself. Many of the dealerships here in Northern California have demo cars for test drive. You just can't do it during the event (although the event only lasts 2 hours from 5-7pm, 'cept for Oakland, which is 12pm-8pm). And I'm sure it's a liability for them if they serve alcohol. Then again, most dealerships close at 7pm anyway.
