did it

After back and forth oggling, driving and pricing against the 335i (Coupe, sedans not here yet), I replaced my May 2002 G (69k miles) this morning with an 07 Sport, PG/Stone + enough toys that I am indoors studying the owners manual. Ok, its raining and slippery or I be out studying paddle shifting and adaptive downshifting and doing stupid things.

Here is what kept me in a G. The Bimmer is fantastic driving, smooth and just fast, with great styling but with a truely ugly rear end. To me the G is smooth enough shifting, close enough handling, and so far ahead in quality look and feel and interior passenger space that the Bimmer nice as it is felt like a gussied up compact by comparision. Both are really fast all around. If the G is .2-.3 slower in the 1/4, I can live with that rationalize not dealing with two turbos, German service costs and no longer racing seriously anyway.

Lower gearing and and higher power than my old ride makes it feel way much quicker, (tho with 9 miles on it I haven't really explored). The Sport suspension (no rear steering) is supple, not harsh over potholes and from the little I have driven, it flat around corners. FYI The sports seat side bolsters are aggressive even deflated and not for the wide of beam.

Am ~$8k less poor now, too than I would be with a similar equipment, and chatting with the Nav is almost too good to believe.

Congrats on the purchase Chuck!! I am glad to hear that the Sport suspension is not too harsh of a ride.

Wasn't harsh at all. Much less side to side motion than mine.
