Additional observations from today

Did some more driving today.

Nav:

So much quicker than my 2003. Does not show the word "rerouting" because it takes no time at all to perform. It simply displays the new route. An amazingingly useful nav system now. Instant scrolling along the route!

Radio controls on the steering wheel. No "off" button? Have to use the little dial on the dash? For the life of me, I couldn't figure how to turn the radio off from the stearing wheel. Maybe someone else knows how.

Heated seats don't feel as hot to me. The high setting seems to be like the low setting on my 2003. Will experiment more. Heating switches seem a bit chinsy. Not the same high-quality feel as teh rest of the interior.

Car definitely downshifts at higher rpm in sport mode when coming to a brisk stop.

From a distance, I think the car looks thinner. I think because of the rounder (pointier?) front and back. Within 20 feet of the front, looks wider though.

My new x is definitely quieter in the cabin, (less engine roar,) under 4,000 rpm's than my old 2003. Haven't revved above 4000 yet.

I use the car mostly in Sport mode, becuase it's more fun, but also I think I might get a better break-in. More of the rev band, (not revving above 4000 of course,) is being used. Less mild lugging around in 4th gear, probably better don't you think?

Thanks for the update Rocky. That is strange that there is no stereo on/off button on the steering wheel.

If you use the voice command you can turn the radio off

Does the first gen G35 have one? I've never seen an off button on a steering wheel...

Yeup thats what I said earlier in the post. However my 04 sedan had the "off" button on the left part of the steering wheel.

Probably for same reason they have the other audi controls on the wheel" convenience. An off button would be far faster than a voice command.

At first glance, I thought you were talking about an "ex" wife. LOL

Oh, nothing sexual or anything, but now that you've implied it, my mistake is even funnier! hahaha I just thought that the beautiful and luxurious cabin mesmerized you so much, you tuned out your ex and her nagging or something. Honest mistake, I swear.

Makes sense considering it's a hard drive based as opposed to DVD disk in previous models.

Autotrans

Not only does it auto downshift to high RPMS when breaking, (in Sport mode,) but it also downshifts sometimes when going down hills, with me giving it no break at all! How does it know I'm going down a hill? Gyro?

I was going down a steep hill, and just as I was about to downshift myself, the trans did it. This trans is a heck of a device compared to my 2003's slushbox.
