Can you transfer from compactflash to harddrive or not? I've read both.

Too bad. I have a pretty big collection of mp3 and it would be a pain to get every CD into the car to re-rip them. Also some of my mp3s are not on CD anymore and would need to be burned to a cd first.
I doubt that you could update the hard drive directly. I have a phatbox in my A4, it is basically a harddrive that takes the place of the cd changer. To update it you take out the cartridge and put it into a usb cradle with the computer. The Os is linux and the filesystems are FAT32... but.... There is the whole database of song names, artists and genres that needs to be updated byu the software, you can't just drag and drop an mp3 file and hope it will play.
I understand the copy protection if infiniti was in the audio media business but as far as I know they are not and why make like harder for their customers then?

While I'm far from an expert on the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), something in it might have spooked Nissаn about allowing owners to load the HD from secondary sources.

Just to show how much I'm wasting time, I just went downstairs in the office to the barbershop in our building and got myself a haircut...the guy there is cool and I even had a beer while he was snipping away...lolz. 30 more mins and I'm outta here!
There is a hack for everything. Wait till these cars have been out for a while and the audio junkies get their hands on these drives. No doubt about it, they are either formatted in FAT32 or NTFS. Im willing to think its a FAT32 file system since these HD's are only configured to run basic tasks such music files, although the NTFS is alot more stable. BTW, these drives HAVE to be IDE, these drives are way too small (9.3GB) to be SATA.
