I'm a Lawyer, Mainly Real Estate, Mortgage Law, and Commercial Litigation.

It's called a defined benefit plan, you work 5 yrs., become vested, then spend the rest of your life working at the same co., you may get $1000 mo. in 2052! My friend's dad worked his entire life at the utility co., even dropped-out of high school, and gets over 3k/mo. in benefits, that's when plans were something people could actually benefit from....not anymore, and most cos. just do the 401/403 thang.
